Champion Mortgage - it's where my dad got his reverse home mortgage

They call and don't leave a message... then get mad because I haven't responded!  And, yes, my Reverse Mortgage was sold to this company by Bank of America!!!

They were my moms reverse mortgage company. She informed them she was moving out of the house. A month later she informed them she had moved out of the house. A month later she told him that she wanted to do a deed in lieu of mortgage. A month later she submitted the paperwork to them for that deed in lieu of mortgage. After she died they denied the deed in lieu of mortgage saying no contact.  Now she's trying to get her a state to sell the property rather than do a deed in lieu of mortgage.   They also just called me and hung up rather than leaving a message.

This number called me 4 times today while I was at work!  I'm not at all interested in a payday loan or a reverse mortgage.  Nor do I want to receive telemarketing calls on my cell phone while I'm at work.

Some guy came to the house this morning, put an envelope in the door with "confidential" scribbled on the outside.  Inside was a handwritten note saying to call this number re: our mortgage in the amount of $55,?????.  Then he took a picture and left quickly.  This was the number to call.  After seeing the above posts, we are in the same situation our reverse mortgage was sold to this company.  We got a letter yesterday saying we hadn't paid our taxes and they wanted to sell the house and other options.   I'm really getting worried now!  I will call the company who we dealt this about 15 years ago re: the Reverse Mortgage.  Be Ware before doing this!!!  We thought it was a great deal but now are beginning to be concerned.

You need a lawyer, anything involving real estate has to be in writing.
Sounds like this company is alleging you have not paid property taxes ...
Check with your local property tax collector to get information about your property tax status.

This may be a a devious business that mishandles mortgage payments and/or property tax payments, and then blames the account, because they want to steal the property and sell it to someone else. In this situation, they are claiming you did not pay your taxes, so you are in breach of contract, and they can exercise their lien rights.

YOU NEED A LAWYER.

The reverse mortgage places that I have looked at require the homeowner to pay the taxes directly.  However, i think if they owed property taxes or were late in paying them, they would know.  The taxing authority usually makes it well known to the homeowner that they owe before putting the house up for sale.

They dropped off a letter with phony mortgage number and called them and wanted the right mortgage number

Champion Mortgage has been calling my mother house a couple of week now. A woman left a message on the voicemail. All she said was Toll Free Call and she said the phone number and hung up. They never called before. Why now. I'm worried for my mother.

Call showed on my phone as 214-687-4088 but the message left was from Champion and the callback number was 855-683-3095.  My parents have their reverse mortgage thru Champion.  I went to their website and dug thru all of their contact info and neither of these numbers appear anywhere.  I think it might be a scam.  Champion's real toll free number is (866) 654-0020.

Hope you learned this was *not* a scam.  This is one of Champion's numbers.

This number has called my phone so many times I cannot believe!!  It seems to me they are trying to find me in default on something.  They want to know if my condo association dues are paid current and when my next payment is due.  I'm sure when they can't find me in default there, they are going to start working on my real estate taxes.  New flash!!  Everything is current and nothing has ever been late!!!  This is harassment and I will be handling this legally.
