A man called who said his name is John Hambrick and he is with Direct TV. He had an Indian accent (far east) not native American.  He said he needed to check if my receiver boxes for compatibility.  He asked for my passcode and asked how many receiver boxes I have. He had my zip code and name with the correct spelling. I asked for his phone number. He said 855-686-4873. He said he is the technical support director. I told him I would call him back. However I did a search on the number before calling him back.  Because a very few minutes had transpired, he called me back and the caller ID had my landline phone number as his number.  Some how he got his phone to ID itself with my landline number.  I said I needed a few minutes before I could call him back and hung up.  I checked my caller ID and the first call from him came from a cell phone with the number 1-505-241-1138.

4/19/21 Had the same call about direct update wanted check information $200.00, would call back
Within 24/48 hours. Called AT&T said it was all a scam

317-548-5133 trying to collect $200 to upgrade software.

JUst received and hung up on suspicious call from 855-686-4873 claiming to be ATT/DIrecttv. How can they still be operating this scam for 3 years from the same number???????
