This is a legit company.  They were calling about a job reference for one of my former students. The student told me ahead of time they'd be calling, so I wasn't worried.  If you get a call from this number, somebody you know is applying for a job.  Nothing to be worried about.

OK, so you knew they were going to call, you knew who they were, and you were expecting the call?  But then you looked up the number anyway?  What possible motivation would you have to do that?  Also, why did you not tell us the name of this "legitimate company"?

The company is called Acurate Background. I received a voicemail from them regarding employment verifcation. In the voicemail she didn't mention the company name that's why I googled the number (I google all numbers that I've missed their call to make sure it isn't spam). When I called the number back, there is a recording stating the company name and to enter the ext. for the person you are looking for, which the woman did leave her ext. in my voicemail. 800-notes has always been helpful, I've blocked many numbers that I've found out were spam through other people's comments on here.

If they're legitimate why don't they leave their name in the message? I NEVER return calls if they don't identify themselves. Obviously it's not important if they can't be bothered to say who they are.

A former employee was applying for a new job. This company called to verify employment history. There a middle man company that places use so they themselves don't have to do the foot work.

Before you ask, I only looked up the number because the former employee was wondering what job it was who was calling. He didn't leave on bad terms and still keeps in touch to see if anything opens up.

I can't imagine this is a legit company! They left a message for me at work-when I called back they said the reference # I had was wrong. "Mariqua" kept asking me for my name and place of employment but did not provide any info that would allow me to give an employment reference until she ended by randomly asking if I could verify employment in another county for a state employee... w.t.f. CAUTION.

Company is legit. Accurate Background calling for start and stop dates of a former employee of the church where I work. I looked it up on here because I didn't answer the phone but they did leave a message saying who they were and who they were looking for info on and he was definitely an old employee from here

They have called our office twice and each time the girl named Jenny leaves a voicemail with a different extension number to be reached at. The first time she called she left a voicemail stating the company and she sent us an email. We called the number and used the extension she gave us and the person who answered said it was a gas station. We called twice and the person who answered still said we were calling a gas station. I replied to her email and when she replied she said that she was going to be out of the office for a week. And gave another extension number for us to call and a different person to talk to. Then this morning i was checking voicemails and she called again and left a different extension number for her to be reached at. So in total there are 3 different extension numbers she has given us. I'm not sure if they really are a legit company because we keep trying to get in touch with them and keep getting the run around.

Legit. My buddy was laid off and they called to ck references for a new position he applied for.
