Scam debt collector text. Texts come from one number, and then asked to call the 855 number. Collecting on a payday loan that I have never taken out. My credit report is clean, and always has been. I asked for a debt validation letter to which they obliged. We will see if anything comes in the mail. Don't fall for this scam, protect yourself!

Have received many calls with no messages at home and on cell, rec'g messages from one number on text asking to call another.

Scam. "Bradley & Weinstein Company" Says it is about a past due payday loan. I called "Check Into Cash" who they said the loan was from to verify. They said they have no information about this loan and that it is fraudulent.

My husband got a text that had my name on it and a phone number. I called and a robot voice said that all agents are busy.  It has to be a robo call/scam.

Same thing here I am texting back a picture of everything I have found here along with a pic of all of the numbers they called from that read Scam likely. Maybe they will get it this time I already told them once to shove their so called bs!!

So you are going to help them out by telling them not to use this number anymore?   Why?

Text messages are illegal for debt collection.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.  

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.  If and when you get that letter you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.

I’m getting my lawyer involved I don’t have time for games

I do not know anything about this.

I got a call a few days ago and a text this morning. They call but don't say who or where they are calling from..

I received the same text. Thw payday loan people will contact you directly, not through a 3rd party.
