This is the number offered in a voicemail by a really high-quality scam recording that was meant to sound like my cable provider offering an excellent lower new price. There were subtle clues in the language that it was a scam, but the accent was 100% middle America. Buyer beware! The scammers are getting better at it.

You used the same phrase "high-quality scam" in another thread but you still don't say what makes it "high-quality". At least in this thread you stated what the scam was.

I believe that "high-quality" is referring to the quality of the recordings sound, not that the scam is of "high-quality".  The poster seems to be impressed that the recording sounds American.  Poster may not be considering that the scammers may be home-grown and are from "middle America", but thinks that all scammers are from overseas trying to fake American accents.

Good chance that they paid some voice actor to do the intro.  Also, I thought I saw something about some new AI program that was supposed to make Indians sound like Americans.  I don't know if that has been deployed yet.

Yes, I read that article.  "Sir Bedevere" started a forum thread about is and posted a link to the article: That Indian call center may not sound like an Indian call center soon.  The article states that it is already being used at call centres in the Philippines and India.  Not too hard to imagine that that software has already been stolen and is being sold on the black market.

Or that they are selling it to anyone who has the $$$$$.  If I remember correctly it is an Indian owned company.

Yeah, I figured he was referring to the "middle America" accent when he said the call was for a "high-quality scam."
