- Brian FA friend got a "firewall infection" trojan horse notice when visiting a website (to which a misspelling of Bill Simmons brought him). He thought it was legit. Called this company. They installed TeamViewer on his computer and were showing him a bogus site with lots of infections. He was asked to give his bank account information and pay $299 for an immediate fix. He called me from a landline. I told him to turn off his computer immediately and he called the company back with with me on the line, recording the call. I listened to the guy from "Technical Support" go through his routine again and try to get access back to his computer. I stopped him and tried to get more information out of him, all of it probably bogus. But then I called him scum and felt good yelling at this lowlife. Anyway, stay away from this number. Don't call it, don't answer it.
Here is one of the links he had my friend load before I got on the call. Good ole infection.dill ... Yummy dill.

- Laura| 1 replyGot this pop up from misspelling a website. Was on the phone with an Indian lady who said she was from windows tech support for about 45 minutes. Also gave her access to my computer. She tried to teach me what everything she showed me meant. Got the feeling she was drawing out the call unnecessarily. She kept saying that everything was VERY serious and that my cpu was very damaged and that hackers were using my computer on a regular basis. Then she tried to sell me a Sonicwall Global VPN 5 Client internal security system for $200. Felt fishy so I hung up. Glad I checked this site.

- Betty Boop replies to bellIt"s a scam!! You"re computer is not infected with a virus! Do not call the number!!! Low life scum bags!!!
- GalenJust got this scamming popup when I mistyped "instagram" in Chrome. As always, my browser locked, so I went right into Windows Task Manager, highlighted Chrome, and clicked "end task." End of problem. While I was busy with that, the Jehovah's Witnesses rang my phone twice. Extreme Call Blocker hung right up on.
- Galen replies to LauraThe fact that the scammer gained access to your computer is a problem that needs to be addressed. Scammers often take the opportunity during access to your computer to download spyware which not only will interfere with your computer's operation but is capable of capturing and reporting sensitive data about your identity and financial information. Your computer needs to be thoroughly scanned for this type of malicious software, and the remote access app that the scammer installed needs to be removed. If you don't know how to do all of this yourself, it's worth it to take your PC to a professional.
