I just received that same message yesterday November 29, 2021. The first call was a guy that left me a message stating I was being served papers and to call 1-855-744-0714. I spoke to Josh Matthew’s. He stated I had an outstanding bill from Bontom 2015. This Josh then said we could keep it out of court as long as I was willing pay that day 40% of 1,984.32. Once I didn’t buy into his demands he told me Good Luck and hung up on me. I called right back and received a message saying all agents were currently busy and leave a message. I haven’t heard back.

Same here except the number given was 855.744.0702.  Josh Matthews with Hartman and Kemp Assoc.  Same story about a Carson's CC from 2014 for $1,900 and they tried to settle for half.  I said go ahead and serve me whatever papers you have because I never opened this card.  He immediately hung up.

Same experience, had a woman named Nicole Harrison that stated she was an independent legal courier  leave me a message that she had legal documentation that she was retained to serve me with and that she would be making several attempts to gain my signature between 3pm-5pm  and if unable to gain signature it would be a refusal to comply and the process would continue without me and that if I needed to reschedule she highly recommended I call 855.744.0702 with a specific case number.

Scam! REAL process servers don't call in advance. Block and ignore such calls if you can.

NO CALLER ID: Same experience, had a woman named Nicole Harrison that stated she was an independent legal courier  leave me a message that she had legal documentation that she was retained to serve me with.  When I asked who it was from, she highly recommended I call 855.744.0702 with a specific case number. I did that, spoke with Josh Matthews, he said that I owed Home Depot 1,984.32 from back in 2015 blah blah blah.  I NEVER have had a Home Depot card in my life.

The fake process server/location finder extortion SCAM usually consists of the following:

They mention that they have received a Fax document or some sort of complaint and that there is a pending legal matter or action about to filed against you to create the sense of urgency.  They tell you that they are a “process server” and cannot give you the particulars of the case since the file is sealed. This is simply ruse to get you to call another number (often with a made-up case number) where they will ask for money to “make it go away” (this is actually the same place, they work in teams, one pretending to be the server, and the other usually pretends to be a lawyer).  They threaten to serve you at home or at work.  They tell you that if they serve you at work then they will need a supervisor, security, or HR person there as a witness, hoping that will cause you to panic over the alleged embarrassment of being served at work.  They also tell you that you will need two forms of ID.  None of which is true.  Process servers do not ever call ahead so that you can dodge them.  Process servers get paid to serve papers, nothing else.  They certainly are not going to pass up a paycheck by telling you that you can avoid being served, they are not going to give you an extra day or even a few hours to get a “stop order”.  Court documents are time sensitive and must be served within a certain amount of time.  Remember that you can always call the local courthouse to see if there really is a lawsuit that has been filed against you.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.  If and when you get that letter you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file complaints with the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

Abusive threatening voice mail claiming they would come to my home at 3 to 5 today to serve me for credit card debt. Is a scammer clearly as I never had a credit card and process servers do not call ahead. Do not engage them, hang up and block. They claim to be from a law firm, Google it. It's fake legal scammer.

Recorded message from David Dorsey. Something about verifying my employment and wages. I could press 1 to tell my side of the story. A woman answered and told me David Dorsey was busy. Then she said that I owed $1700 in payday loans. I've never had a payday loan. She got angry and started screaming at me and calling me nasty names and saying she was sending over some big black men to take my children and lock me up until I paid her every penny I owe. I hung up on her. So far, no men have come to my door. They probably don't even know who I am or where I live. Interesting scam attempt.

Received the following text: “This is Brittany Stewart from your assigned mediation department. B*** A*****, at this time the federal law and state regulations prohibit me from sending sensitive details to you via text message. Please contact me at (855) 744-0709. along with case# POG*********. Reply Stop to opt out.”

I called the number as a representative of myself from the firm I work for utilizing my current name (different than the one they have on file). A woman with a foreign accent answered the call saying “Hello, How may I direct your call?” & did not identify who she was receiving calls for (i.e. a business name) & was put on hold & told they’d try to “pull things up in the system” after listening to hold music for 10 seconds, they disconnected the call. SCAM!!!!!
