- Leah| 1 replyThis is the number I was given by a representative that called for my ex-husband. He stated he was from Professional Placement Services.
- Mr. TCalls and leaves message but does not say who they want. Say they are a debt collector and to call a number bur caller ID shows 800 Service. Don't know who they want and I get a lot of calls from 800 service. Will not call back a 800 service. They say they are Professional Placement Services.
- Caller: Professional Placement Services
- Call type: Debt collector
- SallySomeone at 602.714.2720 calls as "Professional Placement Services" and asks me to call 855-777-0317 and I can understand well but sounds like a debt collection. I have zero debts and excellent credit. I live alone and they are calling at least once (or more) every day. It is very annoying.
- Caller: Phoenix, AZ
- Call type: Debt collector
- AdmAsstCID showed number - transfer from auto-dial to woman who says she is on a recorded line and asks for an employee who frequently is contacted by collectors. She waits a whole five seconds and hangs-up as a call is coming in again that transfers to a different woman who asks for a different employee (mangling his last name for several attempts) who never receives collections calls and likely never would. Is it a collector, is it just b-s? Who knows?
- SaraI keep getting calls almost daily with a recorded message to call that number, saying they are a debt collector. My credit is good. I do not call that number back. Hopefully they'll get tired of calling me early in the morning and waking me up.
- Caller: Never left a name
- Call type: Debt collector
- Margo| 4 repliesThey call just about once a week and a recorded female voice says "this is a debt collector" and the business is Professional Placement Services. The number that shows up on caller ID is a local number ???? But the 855-777-0317 is the number they want you to call back. I don't have any debts in collection so why can't they be stopped from calling ?
- Caller: Professional Placement Services
- Call type: Debt collector
- BigA replies to Margo| 2 repliesThey can easily be stopped from calling, all you need to know is your rights under the law and where to report them. Read the following thoroughly so that you learn what you should already know about debt collection.
It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and that they have the legal right to collect it. You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.
So, since they left a message, they should have already done the following (if they haven't, that is the first part of the law they have broken):
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
So, this is what you need to now do:
You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation or cease and desist calling letter (think of it as the best $6.47 you ever invested). Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it. Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter. You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to. Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment. If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it. Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front): http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

Everything else you need to know follows including at least two agencies where you should report their criminal activities.
