A robocall came in for my husband on my cell number.  They state they are calling from "The legal substance department" regarding a civil matter. They need his "statement" in order to move forward.  Blah blah blah. They never seem to identify themselves.  I have been getting these calls for a while, and have yet to receive a debt validation letter by US mail, or yet to be served.  I do not call them back, because no such debt exists!  The calls will stop, but start all over with a new threatening message, and new phone number to call.  Scum bags to the fullest!!!

I also have received this call from the automatic caller, but when calling back it never ever identifies name of office nor person only to leave a message at ex 999. Really I wish these people get a life and stop harassing hard working people who have no time nor patience to deal with ignorance!! They got me once with this crap but never again. Never have I received any notice, letter or warrant from any officer regarding this even thou they say they would. They even have gone as far as calling my job with the crap, but once mgr told them she would have their attorney file a warrant for harassment the calls stop. So my advice to any and everyone if you do receive these calls from 855-784-8479 or any number calling with this crap don't answer or fall into !!!!!!

We have received these calls for a Darlene Davis not at this address. It is telling her of a legal matter that needs to be taken care of within 24 hours. There has been several of these calls. We do not answer but let the answering machine pick it up.
It also gives a case number to refer to.

This is a collection company called ARM.  They also use the phone number 855-559-1837.
Inform them that they need to send a validation of debt letter to you through the US Postal Service.  They don't like to do this because then their scam becomes a federal issue.

Scam don't talk to the turn in to the FBI

They call me and ask my name. I gave her my name. Oh,oh... This person said of a legal matter. Now I know its a scam. Hope not to complicate it.

Thus far, have received three 'robo-calls' from the same party, allegedly sent from the above phone number: #1 and #2, including the name of someone unknown to me, and was obviously dubbed into the text of the message, claiming my name (which they never mentioned) was attached to a 'civil matter' relating to this person which, the message went on to say, might be terminated by calling them before they proceeded with some undefined action. At no time was there a company representative's name or company title given. After several days, call #3 was left on my voice mail; this time in a harsher tone, but once again definitely a recorded voice, that stated a 'summons' was to be issued within the next 24 hours. However, the voice claimed, I could still avoid all this hassle with a call to them. Do NOT answer or respond to these calls. The legal system and legitimate law firms do not operate in this fashion, but rather send complaints, summons, etc. via U.S. mail--possibly certified. If you do speak to someone, demand that you be sent something in the mail. They will likely equivocate, or tell you they are not required to do so. Unfortunately, the law seems to leave open a loop-hole in this regard.

I learned my lesson about a year ago; in this case it was a collection agency masquerading under the mantle of a law firm. The calls quickly stopped after receiving a copy of my letter of complaint sent to our State's Attorney General's office. The response from them was something like: "I'm sorry, we seem to have contacted the wrong person about this debt (of someone I didn't know)". I would recommend doing something similar if these, or similar, calls become a nuisance. It may be possible that blocking the phone number might help, but as noted above, these weasels often use multiple numbers. Some of them operating in our area are especially targeting Senior Citizens.

I'm getting calls from this number, too. I don't answer or call them back. They keep referring to a civil suit associated with my name and SS no.  They have also recently called someone who works in the firm where I work, using my name and saying it's related to a civil suit. They've called him at home, and I don't even know his home number. They've also asked him for his SS#, which he didn't give. He told them the FBI was on the phone, and they hung up. I don't know how they connected him to me.
