- Nancy| 2 repliesMessage came up after my computer went into a blue screen. Called the number and a guy with a Indian accent answered the phone and wanted my IP address. Hung up and handling with my IT person now.
- Cheech replies to Nancy| 1 replyMessage on pc shown on blue screen, stating to call, "Comcast Technical Support". Implies that computer has been subjected to vulnerabilies; personal info, password, banking info.
- Coach replies to CheechI also got the blue screen with a message to call Verizon tech support immediately. I talked for about 10 min to some guy who took over my computer and he told me I had a malware virus on my computer and wanted to know if I wanted a Microsoft scan to see if they could fix it on line. He also gave me info for Best Buy, Staples and Office depot to fix my pc, now I am not sure what is going on, everything seems to be working but he did ask me question on what I use the pc for before the phone call dropped, I did not try it again????
- AngI must have entered an incorrect website address and got the same blue screen you all got. Each person's screen says who their individual internet provider is with the city it is located. Not difficult information to get from your IP address. I suspect it's a scam. DO NOT call the phone number and give them any information. Most likely they just want to get information from you to scam you. Your computer is probably safe. I am just going to leave this one alone. I am not calling the number.
- pamMy computer just told me that I need to contact Comcast, at the number listed in this chat, to remove a virus. I think it is a scam so I am not going to call the number. Let me know if any of you notice problems
- Caller: comcast
- DebJust got the same blue screen etc. everyone else has mentioned. I have virus protection from my ISP and a thorough scan had just been run, so I will not call the number I believe to be a scam.
- RichLike the others, message flashed that it was being sent by my IP, stated that I had a virus and should call the 855 number so that an IP tech could correct the problem. Knowing it was a scam, I tried to delete it but the message persistently came back. I had to depress the power button to shut the computer down.
- Caller: Unknown (Supposed to be from my IP)
- Call type: Prank
