I got a text from this number asking about student loan forgiveness, but I dont know if I should trust them.

I have gotten 2 text messages about student loan forgiveness. there are way to many untrustworthy people out there so I am not answering.

Same as the other two, got a text.:
"You're red flagged for Student Loan forgiveness with the Department of Education. Call 855-811-2190 today. No logans/wrong # reply STOP http://clk2.it/Z0bu2Q"

Definitely not following that link or calling that number.

I RECEIVED TEXTS FROM THE HTTP://CLK2..IT/ZBU2Q  A FEW TIMES. I WAS SKEPTICAL AT FIRST AS PEOPLE ARE NOT TRUSTWORTHY.  I DECIDED TO CALL THE PHONE NUMBER AND SPOKE WITH A MIKE MORGA WHO WENT INTO MY FAFSA file and created password/user name. I was told they can  forgive my loans that the govt would pay it once working 30 and over hours in public sector.   He took my personal info down. I WAS GIVEN A PHN TO CALL BACK 951-473-8303 and the phone number rang out.

You should never give anyone your FAFSA information. You just opened yourself up to all kinds of identity theft and fraud, That is why you create a username and password. You now have your SSN, DOB, address, and open. Please look into that more carefully. I am with the FAFSA with students and it is against the law for anyone to access your FAFSA hence the I certify information you click on. He also now has access to your tax information. Good luck with this. I don't see any good coming from this unfortunately!

Also loans can only be forgiven if the school closed for accreditation violations and or regulations. while you were attending and did not graduate. You do not receive student loan forgiveness on loans just because you work in a public sector, if that is the case everyone would qualify. And the government would not get a return on his money.  This sounds like a scam in the making. Please visit the Department of Education website.

I sometimes wonder how someone with a college education could make such poor decisions.  There are other ways that student loans can be forgiven, but these people can make the applications themselves for free.  Giving your information out to a random caller is extremely foolish as you pointed out.

I keep getting the same messages from the text # 313131 with the message for forgiveness.  I've not called back or replied back. I just delete the message.

Actually, depending on you loan type you CAN receive student loan forgiveness through a federal program called Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF). But I doubt this text and the program are actually connected.

yeah, someone can steal the identity of someone not paying their bills... that's definitely the identity they want, the one with bad credit from not paying their school loans... the only way you get on this list "for forgiveness" is if your loans are way past due.

Scam - Company trying to string arm you into giving them money to "fix" your student loans. they are also impersonating the department of education.

stop calling and texting me!!!

2. Knows who you are
3. Knows what your number is.

I have gotten this before from others and I tell them I paid off the loan 6 mo. ago.
This seems to stop them and they apologize for calling.
