this person said I was approved for a personal loan if I sent them $1000 upfront first

I got approved for a load of $8000. spoke with (Steve Newton), sent $500 (Western Union) and then confirmed the MTCN number. I waited....did not get any direct deposit into my account.

I then phoned back...Guess what?...a new voice comes on and explains...new csr? her name is Mr.Walker.
They explain some stuff about a glitch in their system? I need to send $700 to cover more of the insurane .
I send them the cash...sounded resonable...now it's another waiting game...no deposit again!
I'm passed on to Trisha Marshall...she tell's me I need to send $500 more and my money will be in my account that afternoon. Apolgies for any inconvenience....I'm now sent $1,700. with 3 trips to the Western Union.

Now it's been 5 days? and know one is callling me back? I spoke with Valrie Adams and she indicated it will be in my account, everything was in order. I'm still waiting.....calling...phoning my creditors reassuring them I'm speaking with a loans officer.

My Car got remotely shut off....My landlord is breathing down my neck...looks and smells like trouble...:(
DO NOT DO WHAT I'VE DONE!!!CHECK THEM OUT EVEN IF THE ARE ON THE "BBB" WITH GOOD STANDING.

This company is a HOAX!!!
Too many players involved in this financial affair....expect to be passed on to as many as 4-5 rep's who don't know what they are talking about. They have canned responces for everything!

Thank you for your letter, it has stopped us from going down the same road as you had. If it had not been for the fact that my friend was $4.00 short in sending the monies this morning(including western union fee)  we would have given up the only $510.00 we had.

The agent was also Valerie Adams, and she said to wire the money to Trisha Marshall in Toronto, and when she was asked for a direct deposit account number (why western union), her reply was its because they are saving on bank charges.
So while we were still trying to sort out where to get the extra $4.00 from we decided to Google the company phone number, and luckily found your story.
Initially we checked out the office address and the company name on Google, also Googled the name of the people and nothing came up as a false or hoax.

It's against the law to require someone to pay money to get money.  That should have been your first clue that you were called by scammers.  Your second clue should have been that you got a call about being approved for a loan, and yet you didn't even apply in the first place.  Your next clue should have been the fact that no reputable business will ask you to send money via Western Union.  

Sorry to say, your money is gone and you've learned an expensive lesson.  Hope things turn out better for you in the future.

Remember that it is illegal in the US to require someone to pay money to get money.  If you have to pay upfront for "taxes, installment fee, proof that you can pay, security deposit, insurance" etc - it's ALWAYS a scam.

NO real business uses Western Union, Money Gram, etc. They are wire transfers and they are CASH. When you went to the Western Union Office did you not read the form you were given? Page #1 has - in BIG black print - what you are NOT to use Western Union for. It is to be used only for family & friends. Real ones, not the ones you met on the internet. Any request for money, to get money, is a scam. 100% of the time, every time.

same story as Darrell . I needed the loan and now i'm working with the rcmp and the police in my town in fraud investigation. I have spoken to the actual progressive lending solutions company and they even said that it was a scam. I hope these people get what they deserve. im supposed to be getting a freund by Friday but i'm not holing my breath
