I did apply for a couple of jobs yesterday, but this is the second suspicious call/text about something like this.

I got a call a few weeks ago after I applied for a job online. It said he was sending me a text with a code. I told him to forget it. What's going on??  Maybe its time to check Snopes.

I received a text from AppTree 415-69 to call (855.816.5723) in requards to a warehouse job I applied for??? So I called the number and BILL answered and wanted to take 25 minutes to verify all of my personal information??? BILL would not give me the name of the company it was for and said the company wanted to remain anonymous to phone calls??? I told BILL I did not feel comfortable with this process and BILL hung up on me???
Something is not right here as an employer will have your personal information and not hang up on you. I would recommend NOT giving ANY personal information to anyone over the phone other than your name and phone number. ALL other information is NOT needed until you are called in for an interview..............

Got a text from "AppTree" to call this number.  The woman said it was for an Administrative Assistant job I applied for, but would tell me for whom (I applied for several).  She "verified" my personal information and pushed me to talk to an advisor to talk about getting enrolled for an unnamed online school.  I finally had to tell her if she gave me the number, I would call them (which I didn't).  The next morning, they emailed me a user name and password for Employer-Network.com.  Scam.  It starts with your info, then shows you offers (phone service, online survey, online school).  I clicked through these to see what happens.  These are services that force you to agree to accept marketing calls.  PASS!  So, I ultimately selected NO to all three offers.  I was told I was be directed to the specific job I applied for.  It was NOT there. All I got was "error 51".  The woman I spoke to the day before said I could could also search all other jobs posted by employers.  I see a search box and use it.  I get a page telling me this part of the site is in "beta testing" and not available yet.  However, if I "register" I will be notified when it is available.  So, totally lie to there as well.  They got my cell number, name, address...so it is just an scam to mine your personal information.  If you get a text to call this number (or any number from "AppTree") - ITS NOT REAL.  Just move on and save yourself the hassle and frustration.  You want a job, not marketing offers!

Your feeling was correct.  I followed through only to be given a user name and password to a phony site. The job search engine is "not yet available" (like it ever was) and you start by seeing three offers you have to chose yes or no to.  You have to agree to accept marketing calls!  When you apply for a job, any conversation needs to be about the job.  Any sales pitches are totally out of line and immediately tells me its just a scam to mine information from poor people just trying to find work.  Avoid Employer-Network and AppTree!   Of course, they will eventually shut down and start up as something else.  But the lesson for me was - if its not about that job I applied for - IGNORE IT AND HANG UP.

Man,this scam gets around fast!...I got the text today and called the number...I didnt make it past the part where she said it will take 45min to get all my info....and all she would tell me about the job is that it is within 20 miles from where I live.....can't be anything other than a scam...what I don't understand is how they were able to find my cell number..the only thing I told the truth about on the application was my name.....is it that easy to get ones cell number?

Thanks for the info! I thought it was far too easy to apply for a job and have an immediate appointment for a "call" with them. No one is working at night at the direct company. This really is crap that they take advantage of people looking for work
