- concerned person| 3 repliesI just received message from a John Green from 305-985-4035 who stated he was calling from the State of Florida and that if I didn't call today there was an order to pick me up and that he would call my job and speak to my supervisor. He left a case # as well and said I needed to speak with the legal dept @ 855-823-1898. i dialed the number and Lindsey picked up (very unprofessionally) and I asked the name of the company she said Allied Litigation and they were trying to collect over 1000. but if i could pay today they were asking for 622. I told her I didn't have it but that I just pulled them up on line and noticed NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS she then stated they were in Florida. Because the call concerned me I proceeded to set-up payment arrangements because I don't want them calling my home nor do I want to be picked up. Should I have done this or should I just disregard it

- GateKeeper replies to concerned person| 1 replyCall your bank, and refuse to pay them until they prove you owe anyone anything.
FIRST -
If there was a warrant out for your arrest, your local courthouse would have record of it. You could always call them and confirm whether or not there is a warrant out for your arrest.
Secondly, and most importantly, debt is CIVIL. You cannot be arrested for ordinary debt.
What you need to do;
- Ignore them.
- If you choose not to ignore them, demand that they send you (in writing, through the mail, with a stamp and a postmark...email, texts, and fax don't count) a DEBT VALIDATION. This tells you to whom you owe the original debt, when you incurred the original debt, and how to continue if you don't agree with the amount, or don't recognize the debt.
LEGITIMATE DEBT COLLECTORS CAN SUPPLY YOU WITH THIS. 'Bad' ones won't, because it involves them committing mail fraud. Mail fraud is no small crime.

AND FOR THE RECORD - - - - -
Allied Litigation is mention here
http://www.khou.com/story/news/2014/07/22/11858806/
And their BBB page.
http://www.bbb.org/houston/business-reviews/d ... on-tx-90026714/
It's worth noting on the BBB page is says,
"According to BBB records, numerous consumer complaints allege Allied Litigation Group's debt collectors misrepresent themselves as, "special investigators" or "law enforcement officers", often threatening consumers with legal action if the alleged debt is not paid immediately. However, collectors will not offer consumers identifying information such as the company's location or state licensing/registration information.
Consumers should note that the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act requires debt collectors to identify themselves, as well as name the original creditor. Debt collectors must also provide verification of the debt if a consumer issues a written request within 30 days of receiving initial notice. The Act also prohibits collectors from engaging in the false misrepresentation of a debt's character, amount, or legal status.
A BBB investigation found Allied Litigation Group was not actively registered with the Texas Secretary of State (SOS). BBB investigators found no record of Allied Litigation Group in the state's database showing that the company was registered to collect debts in the state of Texas. State law requires debt collectors engaging in debt collection activities within Texas be bonded and registered with the SOS. Before paying any debt, verify the company contacting you is licensed to collect debts in your state. Beware of callers refusing to provide you with their identifying information or those who threaten you with legal action or arrest." - concerned person replies to GateKeeperTHANK YOU

- Gary replies to concerned personMy son received 2 calls from John green stating he worked for Salem county court division and wanted my son to pay on the spot for a loan they say he took if he did not they would proceed with litigation, and they would show up on his job, so I called the number he left me for him to call and it was allied litigation so after talking to a not so professional supposed law office she refused to send me any papers I requested stating the loan amount and who it's client was, she said the account was red flagged and she couldn't give me any information but told me no one I could talk about the matter, so I told her then do what you have to, and she said then your surrendering your sons rights, nobody in any law profession would ask a father of someone who is 31 yrs old if I'm giving up his rights, that is totally illegal and asinine from someone who is in the law business to even ask, I called the courthouse next, they don't know john green there is no warrant for my son and without a warrant no one can show up on your job and harass anyone, so for the lady telling me it was legitimate suit and we would have to deal with the consequences so good luck to both of us, funny thing was they didn't even have his correct adress they had one from 5 yrs ago, any legal firm would know how to get his new adress he's had for the last year.
