Lady said her name was Cynthia Martinez. Wanted to let me know that they would be deliverying me legal papers soon at my place of employment. Wanted me to make sure that I had valid ID. Then left her clients phone number of 855-823-9736. Said something about my having my lawyer present. First of all, I don't think they call you to tell you that you're being served. Secondly, although I have never been served, I don't think you need a lawyer present or ID. And lastly, they called my place of employment and left this voice message. Any one of us could have picked up this message. Shame on whomever you are. I'm contacting my Attorney General.

You are correct - process servers do not call first (and no attorney needs to be there).  It is also illegal to discuss matters with a third party (job).  Unfortunately most of these thieves are in India or Pakistan & fake the number on your ID (or use Magic Jack).

Hi, I just got a call from the same place and that was pretty much the same thing they said to my voice mail. but i have no legal matters coming up. i dont like that they metioned my place of emplyment.

Just got served at my job!!! I can seriously lose my job now over this. YES shame on them, this is effecting my family. Wondering why they couldnt serve me at home? Is there any action I can take on them for coming to my work?

....if you were indeed, served at work, post up the legal company name and physical address - not a PO Box - of this scammy outfit.  It'll be on the "papers" you say you received.

First off you cannot be fired because you were "served".  Secondly, you must have ignored dozens and dozens of calls and letters from both the original creditor and the debt collection company.  Third, the debt collection company should have sent you a letter giving you the right to dispute the debt.  So it seems strange that you would have not identified the company that served you nor the company that has been calling you.  You obviously have their phone number because you posted under this one, so it would stand to reason that this is the company phone number that has been calling you.

As to what action you can take against them, at this point if you were indeed served with valid court papers, you will need to consult with an attorney.  Failure to show up for the hearing will result in a default judgement against you and they will then be able to collect in whatever legal means would be available to them.

who are you anyway ... what, does that number ring a bell? I did look up the number online and this is what I found. no reputable company is on here. this has been weeks ago and still have not been served. and yes you can get in trouble at work for calls like this. but you know, so can they fir making these calls to your boss. they are a bunch so slime balls. if I owed it, I would have been contacted and I wasn't.
