Got a call from this number on my cell phone. Claimed to be my ID theft protection company and asked for personal ID information to verify my $1 charge to my account. I refused and called my real ID theft protection company, who verified that this number was NOT them.  Looks like a scam.

I got the same thing, this happened the morning following me signing up for ID theft protection! I suspect that they probably get the information from the company itself...

I signed up for Identity this afternoon at 1PM DST. at approximately 4PM DST I RECEIVED A CALL FROM
855-868-1996 telling me the conversation recording had been disrupted and she needed to complete my enrollment by asking my date of birth, the last four numbers if my social and my debit cars number!
Something told me NOT to give out any information so I opted to CALL WELLS FARGO IDENTITIY PROTECTION PLAN "BACK" instead of giving my information to someone who called me. An angel must have been with me, the call did NOT come from Wells Fargo IT WAS SOMEONE TRYING TO GET MY INFORMATION
DO NO UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES GIVE OUT ANY INFORMATION TO ANYONE WHO CALKS FROM THIS NUMBER 855-868-1996!!!!

Not sure about the number. I to recieved a call back from this number saying my recording was dirupted. I latwr  called wells Fargo cust assistance: 1-800-TO-WELLS and explained to them the situation. They transferred directly to my identity specialist in which I spoke to a gentlemen. I gave him thr number and explained to him what happened. He then confirmed to me that the number was valid. That its one of there call back numbers for customers whom they had trouble with over the phone. Please inquire more if you have heard different recently. Thank you.
