The caller left a message but it was a weird one. They were looking for a "George" and then my last name.  He said if I had any information about George or his whereabout, I should call this number.  Then he said that the next step would be filing paper work with Hamilton County courts.  I have no idea of a George even in my family at this time. I definitely don't have any idea why they would be calling me.  It's kind of scary.

Just missed a call and called them back.  It's a scam saying they are gonna pursue legal action if I don't pay for a bill I never had.  They laughed at me and called me an idiot when I told them that they don't even know how to scam.  She said she will have my account till 4pm today.  Her name is Carla.

They are required by law to do the following:

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

They left a message saying there has been a formal complaint filed against me for check fraud and because of an old payday loan I took out in 2011. I NEVER USED PAYDAY LOAN COMPANIES. I asked them to send me the paperwork, they told me that if they do that it would mean that I am disputing the allegations and I would incur court fees as well as the monies owed. So they wanted me to pay right then and there over the phone. I said, without me being able to at least take a look at what I am being accused of, and he got real snotty saying "they been sending you notices for 6 years" really? Well send another. I was just curious to see what they were talking about, thinking maybe someone took out a loan in my name, but they refused to provide any information so my spidy sense tell me ...SCAM! I'll let you  know if I end up in court.
