Claimed from CRA with threatening message.

Somone called from this number. Gave his name as John Skinner. Foreign Accent, male. Said CRA was going to sue me for unpaid taxes. Same number called before claiming that government is investigating me for emigration fraud. Today guys said to go to Staples, to buy I-tune watcher for $ 1,299.00 and pay someone who would come to my home in couple hours. They knew my home address

I received several calls from this number as a recording that my bank account will be frozen because of a debt owed to the CRA. If I don't return the call to get a lawyer as I will need it for my defense.

I have gotten the same message today. It is fraud. The last time I've received the message was about citizenship status and a man with foreign acccent ( from India) ask me to go to somewhere near India high commissioner in Ottawa and pay immigration/citizenship fee. I called the police and they told me we got many complaints regarding this number. It is fraud for sure.

Received a call from this number that went to voicemail. It sounded like an automated message saying that I owed the CRA and that my assets would be seized and my bank account(s) frozen. Very obviously a scam. I called the number just to see what they would say. A person with a foreign accent answered with a very, very, bad connection. He claimed he was John Skinner with Canada Revenue. He then proceeded to ask me for my vital statistics (Name, Birth Date, and SIN). I told him that I would not be providing those things and that it was illegal to impersonate someone from a government agency. At which point he disconnected the call (or it was dropped, the line quality was that bad).

I Get two or three calls a day from this number. Very disturbing. Total scam. Do not respond.

Same number and same message re CRA as everyone above stated. I get this recorded message nearly every day. It's hard to understand at the beginning so at first I was unsure if the voice was stating a name who the message is for so I was concerned, but as the call came almost daily, always the same mechanical voice, I am no longer concerned but very fed up. Glad I found these comments. Thanks to everyone for sharing. Let's hope it stops sooner rather than later.

Had a message left supposingly from the CRA. Very threatening as they were going to seize all my assets within 24 hours. I know this is a fraudulent call as the CRA will never call an individual, but they will send a letter complete with your social insurance number in an envelope  from the Canadian Government.

Got this call today.  Automated garbled at first.  Said they were from CRA.

Got the same automated message that every one else got. Glad to see this brutal scam unmasked here in this site. I hope that the police get them sooner than later considering what they can do to vulnerable people. We should all contact the police about this scam.

Same number. Same story:  I've been audited, I owe thousands, I need to pay now or go to jail.  I choose jail.

Same message, note to anyone without common sense. CRA would never threaten you with a robo dialer, and not even use your name.

If you receive a call saying you owe money to the CRA, you can call them or check My Account to be sure.

If you have signed up for online mail (available through My Account, My Business Account, and Represent a Client), the CRA will do the following:

• send a registration confirmation email to the address you provided for online mail service for an individual or a business; and
• send an email to the address you provided to notify you when new online mail is available to view in the CRA's secure online services portal.

The CRA will not do the following:

• send email with a link and ask you to divulge personal or financial information;
  Exception:
  If you call the CRA to request a form or a link for specific information, a CRA agent will forward the information you are requesting to your email during the telephone call. This is the only circumstance in which the CRA will send an email containing links.
• ask for personal information of any kind by email or text message.
• request payments by prepaid credit cards.
• give taxpayer information to another person, unless formal authorization is provided by the taxpayer.
• leave personal information on an answering machine.

When in doubt, ask yourself the following:

• Did I sign up to receive online mail through My Account, My Business Account, or Represent a Client?
• Did I provide my email address on my income tax and benefit return to receive mail online?
• Am I expecting more money from the CRA?
• Does this sound too good to be true?
• Is the requester asking for information I would not provide in my tax return?
• Is the requester asking for information I know the CRA already has on file for me?

Tax Scam - recorded message - threaten, legal, jail,, blah blah blah

Caller was a male with a drawn out drawl to his voice,just did not sound right like a gov agent would sound like. threatend to sue me for unpaid taxes and said an agent would be showing up in a few days. also weird was the number has no hyphons in it. it was this 8558818146

Scam caller saying they are from the  IRS . Then wants me to call a number. Threatening me about taxes, bank account.  Blah blah blah.
I blocked the number.

This number called and left a message with a computer generated voice stating: "Your assets and your bank accounts due to your inability to settle your dues with the IRS a bill collection officer would visit you soon to complete paper work. If you have any questions then call our tax default line 855-881-8146 I repeat it's 855-881-8146. If you don't call immediately or if we don't hear from your attorney either then you'll be sole responsible for all legal consequences. Goodbye." Please know that they were claiming to be the IRS. Also, they clearly aren't.
