- Lisa M.These ppl called me and threaten to put me in jail, put liens against my home and car, and claimed i owed money. They wanted me to deposit money into a Chase bank account THE NEXT MORNING. They never gave the name of their company and had information about me but was public information that anybody could look up. It was a female and a male. IT IS A SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Call type: Debt collector
- lynn j| 2 repliesThese people called me today. Have all my info but never stated whom I owe. Threatening to take my nursing license if i dont pay. Dont know who they are or what debt they are talking about. They claim to be a law office, with some loser named Adam Applegate, yea right. Never says he's an attorney. Also stated I need to show up in court. I would have to be served or receive a certified letter of any court proceedings. Is there some type of agency to report these type of scams to? Its very annoying and upsetting to say the least.
- lynn j replies to lynn jalso here's the dummy number they call from 678-666-5986 located in georgia
- Mary BrownI too received a call from a such "Adam Applegate" also today. They were threatening to take away my nursing license unless i settled a debt with them TODAY. I freaked out and went to our local police dept. and spoke to the Captain, who ended up speaking to the lady, and told her that she cannot threaten to arrest anyone over the phone. Yes it's a total scam and I want to warn others to be very careful. If this was true I would have been served some sort of court documents. They said I would be arrested if i didn't comply today...I plan on filing a complaint with the Fair Trade Commission.
- Caller: "LAW OFFICE"...AKA...SCAM!!!
- Mary Brown replies to lynn jWOW!!! I am reading your post and freaking out. They called me like an hour ago. The lady was very insistent on collecting some money today. And like you said, they had all of my personal information...it was sickening. I wanted to have a heart attack thinking i was going to be arrested before the sun went down. Fortunately someone told me that we should go to the local PD and ask about it. Long story short...it's a scam. I'm truly relieved that I didn't fall for it...cause I almost did. :(
