Left a voicemail saying some software protection subscription would be automatically renewed for $299 unless they were called back to cancel.

Call from this number, recorded message, call back for a $299 refund. Did not say for what or who they are. Phone, 1-855-929-0136.  Caller ID says: "Toll Free Call." 3rd time they have phoned in 2 days. Avoid, obvious scam.

Got a call from this number today.  Beginning of message was cut off, but what I could hear was the same as others have said ... my software protection subscription would be automatically renewed for $299 unless they were called back to cancel. And I must call them back to get a refund.   I am 100% sure this is a scam!
