go into internet options and delete cookies and browsing history.  restart computer and your normal start-up should appear.  when I called that number and asked who they worked for, he said Windows but later denied that he said that

Also received the pop up on computer with scary message about a virus infecting my computer..  I did call the 855-948-0324 number and was told they would run a check on my computer if I would answer some questions.    I refused and ended the call.  Obviously a scam.  Be  very careful!.

Called this number because they got my mother to put in a "pin" so they could "check her computer". I asked the guy who he worked for and he told me "Windows Rapid Tech Support".. I then asked him what kind of scam this was and he got seriously defensive and getting loud on the phone. I recall asking if they installed keyloggers to steal information and he responded "Sir, what's a keylogger?" .. Really? Tech support doesn't know what a keylogger is? He then transferred me to his "Level 3 Supervisor" which sounded like him changing his voice. I told him this was a scam because of how unprofessional it was and hung up because I couldn't take his whining about how legit they are anymore.

did they get any info off of your number. I scared because I called this number and I don't want my identity to be stolen or anything like that I was just wondering if that was possible

If you allowed them access to your computer then they have everything you have kept on it. If not, do not worried about it. But if you did, change any and all your passwords now! If you had any banking information, then contact your bank and also the credit reporting places as well. Take it to a real tech you can see face to face, they could have placed a keylogger or anything on your computer, or made it a spam bot zombie. Make sure your antivirus program is turned on. If your not tech smart, take it to a real live tech you can see face to face.

Pop up "Warning your computer is infected with a virus, call 855-948-0324 immediately"
and automatic audio that said something like "Warning your computer is infected with a virus, call 855-948-0324 immediately blah blah blah. I couldn't get the audio to stop or the window to close until I did (ctr alt del) and forced Windows explorer closed. This occurred after I opened the WiFi File transfer (my laptop to my Samsung Galaxy Note 2) page on Windows explorer (I normally use Firefox though, and I hadn't opened explorer for months, so it may not have had anything to do with the file transfer program).
