- sitary| 1 replyI thought it might be spam because Caller ID displayed "800 Service" but now I think it's a legitimate cardmember fraud prevention service, in my case a CitiBank card. The automated caller never asked me to input any data, just asked me to confirm 5 recent transactions on my CC.

- BigA replies to sitaryI find that hard to believe since the first poster said that it was Elan calling. Elan is a division of US Bank and not Citibank. I guess you must have stopped by to try to convince people that this call is "legitimate" and you seem to have failed at it terribly.
- BigAFolks, never, ever trust an incoming call that is asking for financial information. Always, always, always call the number on the back of your card. That is absolutely the only possible way to be 100% sure that you are talking to your bank and not some scammer.
- MichaelSometimes it sounds like a fraud, but may be a legit fraudulent activity call. There is only ONE RIGHT THING TO DO IN THIS CASE, or you could have your card deactivated if the call was authentic:
Call the number on the back of the card that was mentioned. Call the number on the card, ONLY!!!, and DO NOT call back the number that left the voice mail. Never call any number other than the one on the back of the card!
Then you will know for sure if the original call was legitimate.
IF AND ONLY IF the call was legitimate, as soon as you call the card number and validate yourself, you will get forwarded to their system that verifies charges deemed fraudulent for confirmation of those charges.- Caller: +1 (855) 958-6233

- Tygerkat replies to JenniferYou need to know both their legal name & business address to sue them. Considering this is a scammer, good luck getting that information from them.
- Kayla ZI just received a call with a vm from this # saying there was fraudulent activity on my account. I did call the card in question using the # on the back of the card. It was indeed a legit call, as there was fraudulent activity on my account. This is a legit call.

- Katy CI got a text "FreeMsg: Elan Fraud Alert: Is $37.33 at __ on 01/22 valid? Reply 1=Yes 2=No" and when I texted back No, it sent another text stating "Elan Alert Update: $37.33 on 01/22 confirmed as fraud. We will contact you ASAP or you should call 855-958-6233." I tried to log on to my Elan Financial Services Account, and it was blocked, asking me to call the number on the back of the card. At this point, the number in the text called me, and the agent identified herself as with the Fraud department, asked me if I was calling about the "Fraud block". It sounded legitimate but I was so suspicious because of all the scam call and fraud stories that I started searching the number while they were on the phone with me and found this thread. What made me a little nervous was she asked me to verify some information but also asked me questions like if I had traveled recently, etc. In the end, she told me a fraud claim has been filed and a new card will arrive in 2 days. After I hung up, and because the number doesn't show up with an organization but only in threads like this, I became nervous and called the number on the back of my credit card to talk with the fraud department just to verify the whole thing was legitimate, and it was, thankfully. The fraud department for my credit card did catch a fraudulent transaction and notified me in time. When I was able to log in to my online account again, the account number has already changed to the new card that is on the way.
