- Sharon| 1 replyHad the same experience as above yesterday. computer is unplugged and off awaiting trip to legitimate repair shop.
Question: has anyone experienced any theft of money, identity, etc after repairing the computer legitimately? Is their scam only the repair contract cost, or do they take the info theft further?- Caller: Yoda Care
- CWG40 replies to SharonInternet Security 101. Never give control of your computer to someone you do not personally know.
Never wire money to someone you do not personally know.
Never give out financial account numbers to anyone over the phone, or e-mail.
They will clean out your computer of all files that might seem valuable to them. This of course will include any account numbers related to any financial institution you are with.
It's very important that you change out all account numbers, credit cards, bank account numbers and the like.
Sign up for a credit reporting service and check it every once in a while to make sure no one is attempting to access your financial information.
This scams been going around for sometime now. Educate yourself in basic computer and internet security. - DigitalPhoenix1| 1 replyIf you were called, or if you are preparing incase you are called, please follow these steps!

The only persons who should be touching your computer is you, your manufacturer, Real Windows support that you have called and/or maybe a real live tech you see face to face! And be very very leery of numbers when you look to call the real ones, there are fake webistes up. Never call numbers from pop ups either, thats scareware.
