This also happened to me last week and luckily My coworker told me it was a scam and I cancelled my CC before it was charged.  I ended up cancelling my CC and closing my bank account and opening another one.

I got tricked yesterday too, these guys are very professional - scary!  Virus warning pop ups (adware), claiming immediate action to prevent data loss and system damage.  Call toll free on 0800 number.  They used YODA CARE (yodacare.com) as the agent to handle the matter after taking payment and get me to e-sign a document.  Yoda care claim to be an official company, my investigation is still pending....

***They convince you to give them remote access to your computer then justify the virus by opening system operations and fooling you into believing 'sleeping' programmes are due to virus "...it should be running" he said "...see all your programmes are down".  Also they were able to show me via remote control that my Apple Mac Care plan had expired and would need immediate payment of new Apple Care Plan before work could be down to 'remove' the viruses.

All of which is rubbish.  1 - Official Apple care cost for 1, 2, 3 year plans are cheaper. 2 Apple Care tech will NEVER remotely control your computer, only control the pointer so you can click the right buttons! 3 - Apple doesn't get viruses, just adware which is popup's which trick you and then guide you to take action and allow them in.

You don't have to be rude about it, she knows she made a mistake. If you don't have any helpful information to offer, don't offer anything.

Sadly, I was charged EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS this morning -- and WASTED THE ENTIRE DAY! I'm most worried about the confidential information on my computer -- which I've now removed, but was I in time?  My credit card company advised me to take my computer to Best Buy to have it checked - and try to get a letter saying whether they really removed any viruses or if it was simply a scam -- if the latter, they'll eat the costs!

My wife got the Pop Up. Scared the hell out of her. She called me, sent me a screen shot. I call the number. Listened carefully to the background conversations after they pick up. All from India, reading same shpeal from a card.  I asked " what is the name of your company? " reply " We are associates of Microsoft" . I said but " WHAT IS THE NAME OF YOUR COMPANY" got same response. I said you are the SCAM COMPANY and huno up.

Got the pop up window on my Mac yesterday, 10-12-15. Tried to get out of window but to no avail (now I know I could have "forced quit" Safari with Command-Option-Esc.  To launch Safari, hold Shift key down and click on Safari).  Called the number, got a person with an Indian accent.  Her name was Krishansh Kumar from a company named TechMatrix (which I now know is Yodacare.com). I went with the $269.99 fix (a year's service). My CC company alerted me so I told them to go ahead and put the charge through.  Talked to a techie friend this morning and he told me it was a scam.  I called my CC co and talked to the fraud alert dept., they cancelled my card and once the charge is no longer in "pending" status, I can call back and dispute the charge. These people (Yodacare or whatever they're called) are professionals and have answers for everyone of your questions. They even went as far as turning off my firewall, gave me phone numbers for Customer Support & Tech Support.    Best advice I can give to anyone, if your gut is suspicious, go with your gut.  Go immediately to Apple support if you can, they can help you through it.  I learned a few things about my Mac with all this craziness.

THEY CHARGED ME $555.  THEY WERE THE ones who hacked me.   How did they get into my computer except by hacking.  Then threatening me with massive problems.  They INSINUATED that they were from Apple but when I asked again and again they hedged.  This must fraud must be reported --sent to a government agency.  The threat of hacking is horrifying.  I had just been browsing clothing from a Chnese company.

A very similar thing happened to me a few weeks ago, by the same company ("Yodacare"). They were very believabale, but fortunately I had the good sense to immediately phone my credit card company and cancel the transaction and my credit card. I had given Yodacare remote access to my PC (BIG mistake) and they apparently installed numerous Trojan horses on it. I also immediately phoned Microsoft and they were able to clean up the mess. I still decided to either close or freeze some of my accounts, and changed some passwords. Fortunately I seemed to have acted quickly and decisively enough to avoid any loss or damage. Big hassle though. Can't trust anyone 100% in this day and age.
