I got a text from this number yesterday, with the message "Bank of America: Your Bank Card has been restricted as a security measure!  Follow (insert website here) and verify your account in 3 Steps!".  I did NOT click on the link, but used a work computer to type in the links address.  I was directed to a page asking me to enter the phone number and zip code associated with the account, so of course I entered bogus info.  It was, of course, accepted as correct (HA!), and I was directed to a page asking me to give them "my" account #, name on account, security code on the back of the card, and my SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER!!  Clearly, the mere fact that they accepted the bogus phone number and zip code as correct was enough to tell me this was BULL-ONEY!!
Oh, and by the way... I don't have any B of A accounts, nor have I ever.  BEWARE!

Forward such texts to 7726 (SPAM).

Put the full text into the Comments box and also the link to this webpage on 800notes.

It is not wise for ordinary people to do this as the scammers' webpage could also be an attack page and malware could be installed on their computer. The criminals behind this create new website about once a week and try again because the one they are using gets shut down quickly.

I meant to say it is not wise for ordinary people to visit the scammers' website ... everyone can report to Google's "Report Phishin Page" and don't need to leave an email.
But you will have to solve a CAPTCHA.

Excellent advise William, thank you very much.  I agree, it is not wise to visit scammers' websites, which is why I did it at a work computer (cone of shame?).  I shall now follow all your advise.

Update:  I thank you again, William.  Your wise advise has been followed and I am now  'rejoicing merrily for doing my part in making the web a safer place'.
