I got a spam text saying I had won a resort package and this was the call back number listed in the text.

Got a text message from 507-351-5528 saying, "(exclusive) Your <insert phone number> has been chosen for a trip for 4 to disney, daytona resort for 7 days, 6 nights with purchase of car rental call: 855-973-4050."  This must be a scam because there improper punctuation/grammer.

How do we block the number so they can't text again. Got several test yesterday too that were similar but couldn't figure out how to block them on my I-phone 4.0.  Any help appreciated.

i tried calling from land line,, all i got was music,,,,  i text back "fu&k off" and deleted the bugger

Did you call the number they gave, or the originating number that actually sent the text?  In my case, the originating number was 508-332-2289, and I don't find anything relevant when I do a search for it. I haven't tried calling either one.

Send/text the word BLOCK & the phone number to 9999. This works with Sprint for sure, but I believe it is a general blocking list service just like 7726 is for reporting spam. Hope that helps. :)
