- J| 1 replyThe callers are ALL foreigners! They are calling a business number, saying they are of relation to the person they ask for then hanging up when that person answers the phone!
- Caller: unknown
- joebobCalled business #, left no message can hear someone typing.
- manI believe these guys are either verifying "current contact list" or they are identity thieves.
The fact that they are calling Americans tell me that they are doing this for an American based business who are trying to know who is who. SHAME ON YOU
And yes, the callers sounded european (not from India or the Philippines). - NMOCalled ID shows up as 856-204-0000 Vineland, NJ. I answer, they ask for me by name, I say "Yes" and they repeat my name. I again say, "Yes" and they hang up. I think they are verifying a contact list.
- Ncalled this morning ask for my boss by name I ask what the call was concerning they said "I am a friend of his" my boss is a female.

- Bull22Caller called thursday 27th august and got transfered to my extension. Asked for my name 3 times and gave the receptionist a phoney name (took some time to give his name when asked). Went by the name of Mike Davis.
I believe they are checking out phone numbers off of a contact list. - Admin AssistantI received a call from this same number (856.204.0000) today (9/1/2009) at 10:59AM. My caller ID indicated the call was coming from Vineland, NJ. The caller, who's name is Gemefron from a company he referred to as "AIA", asked for my boss by formal first name (only). This usually means it is a solicitor. I pressed for the nature of the call which he did not understand. This was asked multiple times in various ways. Finally, I asked if I could tell my boss why he was calling and he repeated something to another person in another language and then said he needed wanted to know if my boss was in the office. When I said yes, he hung up on me.
- Caller: AIA
- switchboard operatorI recieved a call from this number asking for an associate in the company. the associate came to me a few minutes later and said the caller was strange all he did was ask, "are you" and called him by his first name, when he said yes the caller hung up the phone. it appears they are trying to get you to say YES. maybe to record your voice saying YES. this can not be good.
- ashReading this forum is creeping me out! How should we go about reporting this issue! Any hints anyone?

- Receptreceived the call at about 2pm looking for one of our attorney's by name. Claims he was from some company AIA, then i asked again what was the name of his company and he said Microsoft. I know for a fact that microsoft doesn't call from New Jersey and i don't believe they use a call center that far from home base. He claimed his name was Jeff Thompson. I know for a fact that Jeff Thompson doesn't have an Middle Eastern accent! Who do these people take me for? When they don't answer my questions i hang up on them. I don't confirm if the person works here or not. Why should i so they can keep calling and getting on my nerves? I think not.

- Windy| 1 replyI got a call for the same number. I did further research and came to a web page with the name of the company - http://www.wherecall.com/AreaCode-Exchange/856-204.2.htm. It is the Ymax Corporation. I then googled that company and located it at www.ymaxcorp.com. The founder invented the MagicJack, and they sell that product from that website. The phone call for us came from Vineland, NJ this AM. At the company website they have a contact page that only lists a mailing address in West Palm Beach, FL. Finally, there appear to be complaints filed, but not about the phone calls. It appears the MagicJack may not be what is made out to be. I do hope this has helped all of you.
- Caller: Ymax Communications Corp.
- MWe received a call from this same number (856-204-0000) today (9/10/2009). My caller ID indicated the call was coming from Vineland, NJ. The person calling asked for one of our attorneys by name (full name). When I asked "Who's calling please", the peson calling responded with "This is Mike Miller and it is an emgerency. Please hurry and get him". When I told them the attorney they were calling for was out of the office, they hung up on me.
- isdnip replies to WindyWindy, it's probably not YMAX who's calling; it's somebody using a Magic Jack. YMAX is the company behind Magic Jack, and they sell their VoIP network at retail, so anybody looking to make cheap phone calls without being traceable could see it as a good choice. So the callers are not really in Vineland, and it's not even certain that they're using Magic Jack/YMAX to make the calls -- they could be spoofing Caller ID.
- joeLooks like a phone number verification scam.
Im not sure how to report this though. - RI received a call a few minutes ago asking for me by name. I responded "speaking" and they hung up. Tried to call the number back a few times and got nothing but a busy signal.
- harrietgThis morning I received a very rude call from this number. Caller asked for me by name. I said, "What is this in regard to?" Caller answered, "She would know." I replied, "This is she, and I don't know." Caller hung up without another word.
- Bradenton, FLThey have called the office all morning. A man with an accent just keeps yelling HELLO and hanging up. The number they are calling from is 1-856-204-0000. It beginging to get very annoyinh.
- aly| 1 replyI had the same experience as everyone else a few minutes ago. The caller ID displayed the number and "Vineyard, NJ". The caller (male, foreign) asked for my boss by his formal first and last name and then hung up when I replied with, "I'm sorry, but he's unavailable, may I take a message?"
I really don't enjoy that.
