Caller ID says "CAMBRIDGE, MA."  Partial Recorded message from some woman talking about overtesting of children in schools.  Asked us to 'join her' in a meeting in Boston; we are 250 miles away!  Suspect this part of the MTA (Mass Teachers Association) of which we are a part, BUT, we wish we could get on an internal DNC List with them.  We don't appreciate all their spam calls, even if, technically, they are 'legit' and 'legal.'

From what Annoyed at the MTA said ... I got the same call. I am an MTA member. Overly aggressive tactic in my opinion. Ask members if they want email or phone call. Email is passive. Phoning is intrusive.

Agreed.  ALSO just called from 617-431-6832 just 30 minutes before THIS call, also today.  TWO calls in one day, in LESS than an hour.  NOTE TO MTA:  TAKE A HINT.  You supposedly intelligent, and representing EQUALLY intelligent people.  WE DO NOT WANT TO BE PHONE SURVEYED, SOLICITED or HARASSED.   STOP IT or we will SUE.  THIS is what gives teacher's unions a BAD NAME.  (Yes, I realize that 800Notes is NOT MTA, and has no conenction to them.  Just venting for the PUBLIC to see that not every MTA household is a rabid overzealous liberal!)

Called us AGAIN today, on SUNDAY, November 29, 2015, part of the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend - FAMILY Time.  Fortunately, it was blocked, so only rang once, but... the NERVE of them to call at this time!  WHOM do they think they ARE????

I heartily agree. Feb 17, just got one of these, but I have on my phone "block list."  Just a question but could an organization MTA sell our numbers go a third party?  The reason I ask this is because years ago there was a HUGE media scandal re: public television selling our numbers (anyone who donated) to the Democratic party. Huge scandal. Hmm... is this also going on? Just asking???

Called AGAIN today, although still blocked.  This is after an MTA official supposedly removed our number from their active call list at our request last month after the household MTA member attended a meeting in Boston.  So much for that.

Anything is possible.  Like most 'publc/non-profit organizations' they are strapped for $$$; so its possible they've resorted to this.  Got another call from them today, blocked, but stil.....  This is after our request to have our # removed from their calling database was supposedly 'honored lat month.'  If they've already submitted people's #s to a third party - and don't inform them of those who'd like their # removed, then we are out of luck getting out of these calls, I guess.  (And then who knows who that third party sells our numbers to, as well.)

I am a reluctant MTA member as well. It's bad enough that they take my money to support things that I dislike, but I wish they would stop calling me too, even when I am in the classroom teaching.
