If you want CRA or any other company to stop harassing you, the solution is very simple.
Answer the phone.  Tell them whomever they are asking for is not available.  Then tell them if this concerns a debt, you need to contact  the person who they are asking for's attorney. The Attorney's name is" XXX" and his phone number is"ZZZ"   Then hang up the phone.

Replace the attorney's name "XXX" with the name of the Attorney General for your State.   Then replace the phone number "ZZZ" with the Attorney General's phone number.

They will never call you again.  The last person these folks want to get a hold of is an attorney especially the Attorney General for any State.

That last one is a great response!  The AG's name and phone number I never would have thought of that.  I got a voicemail from them (CRA) a couple months ago, and again this morning from "Elliot" needing to speak with me or my representative immediately.  I'm thinking it may be the same instance as someone above, I had an account with Bally's over 12 years ago, moved did all the paperwork, and they said it was done, then come to find out they put a non payment mark on my credit and having done all the correct things I was supposed to, I didn't feel I should have to pay it, and still don't.

My wife and I have both been receiving calls from CRA at this number fishing for information about someone else we don't know.  They were lying saying I was listed as next of kin implying something about inheritance.  I called them back to ask who they were and they hung up on me.  I followed Jack's link in the previous post and filed a complaint with the FTC.  Don't know if it will make any difference but they certainly seem like scumbags.

I've receive daily calls from this number.  The caller is reluctant to give any more information than a last name and that they are calling from CRA.  When queried further about the company, the caller gets rude and indignant.  Not sure where or how CRA got my number.  Nonetheless, I have expressed to the caller(s) each time that I "feel harrased."  One caller hung up on me; another continued to talk after I said I felt harrassed and would be hanging up the phone.

they called me asking for a Chrissy Vanderhorn. I've had this number for the past 5 years. I don't have bad credit. How would they get my number. Isn't there a law to protect consumer for people like this? When I asked who this was they hung up on me - how rude. I called back and got the company name CRA.

Called at 7:30am. Did not leave message. Have received at least one other call from them (probably more), from a (757) area code, that did leave a message -- "very important" that I or "whoever represents you" call today. I think they try to sound like a law office ("calling from the Offices of CRA") or something much more official.

I got a call from this number, with almost the same scenario as Jane D.. got a "please hold for an important call" and as I was about to hang up, a woman came on the line, asking me if I was so and so, and when I said I was, she transferred me to her 'boss'.. the 'Boss' gets on the line, with all kinds of outrageous claims about a 7 yr old debt- which had already been paid, and I told her that! she started making accusations about me, and when she realized she had angered me, she threatened me with a 1099C filing with the IRS if I didn't pay it!! the irony?? I was about to walk into the IRS building when they called, so I told her that, and asked her if she'd like to talk to the IRS about that 1099C, and kill two birds with one stone, lol!! surprise, surprise- she hung up!!

I received a call from this number. When I tried to call it back it said it was not a working number. They never leave a message and I have no idea who they are.

Called again.  Left no message.
