Telemarketing call received at 1:30pm Friday afternoon. Caller was polite and said that the Knoxville Firefighters Association raises money to help burn victims "all over" East Tennessee. He said they are having a benefit concert at the Coliseum, with music by Neal McCoy, a '90's act. Asked me if I'd ever heard of him. Of course I haven't, so I said no. He couldn't hear me and hung up the phone.
Personally, I never give money to anyone who solicits over the phone. I donate to local and national charities that I research before giving my time, money, or household goods. Just the fact that they cold-called seeking a monetary donation is a red flag to me. KFFA has a paid .com website, not a charitable .org site. There is no information about their board of directors, their non-profit status or their annual IRS Form 990, which non-profit organizations are required to make public. Their website is designed to take money from your pocket and put it into theirs. Beware!

Per the website for the Knoxville Firefighters Association, they are sponsoring a concert on June 4 featuring the original "Drifters". No mention of Neil McCoy on the website at all. There are several charity groups that the association supports but not for fires "all over East TN".

Caller from Knoxville fire dept, so says, I hung up, tired of annoying calls

Caller ID said Loudon but caller was from Knoxville Firefighters.  They've been calling from several different numbers for three months.  By accident  I answered this time but told lady I didn't have time to talk.  Knoxville Firefighters calling from Loudon?
