Just got a call from these guys about them issuing me a summons.  Hamner Investments was the name the guy gave me.  Eric Randall.  this is for a card that i already payed off. the call back number he gave me was 951-403-6149.  saw the hamner name on this web site so i'm going to take this as a scam until i see papers.

The number belongs to a company (it's a joke to even call it that) called Hamner Investments. These people are jerks. They call you at work (illegal) and will harrass everyone around you until they speak with you. It's a bunch of empty threats! They will say they need to serve you and blah blah blah sealed documents. It's all a load of crap. These are OLD out standing debts on store cards that have been sold to this joke of a business. They are a scam. They cannot collect on debts that are past the SOL. So they cannot sue you. No court would even take them seriously. They have tons of things filed against them for violating the fair credit act thing. Basically, they scare you into paying them. DO NOT PAY. Go ahead and google Hamner Investments. It doesn't exist and their addres is nothing more than  a seedy strip mall. They got $1200 out of me before I figured them out. I'm turing them over to the FBI (thankfully I have some connections) and hopefully this won't happen to anyone else out there. But if you happen across Steve Dunn in the streets- punch him in the face for me.

Sorry but it is not illegal for a creditor to call your place of employment.  They may not call your workplace and leave a detailed message but they can indeed call you there without violating anything contained in the Fair Debt Collection Act.

Again, it is NOT a violation of the FDCA for a collector to call you at your workplace.  As I stated earlier they cannot leave a message that details your personal business but they can indeed call and leave their name, number and name of their company.  As for the SOL, this is a slippery slope because there are several things that can restart the debt thus moving your SOL further out.  I have seen debts haunt individuals for a dozen years and there was nothing the debtor could do about it.  Consumers tend to think there are strict laws out there protecting them from their bad debts when in fact, there really aren't.  Even what defines harassment has changed over the years.  Do some research into the laws before listening to anything you hear on the internet because half if not more of us - have no idea what we're talking about.  Good luck.

SO HAS ANYONE BEEN SERVED? I got a call in the begining of October from a process server saying they would be at my house in a hour to serve me papers. I asked for what and he could'nt tell me.  All he did was tell me to call this 866-201-1888 and give them a case number he provided me with.  He said this was the only way to stop being served court papers.  When I called and gave my case number he transfered me to Steve Dunn EXT. 129.  He said if I did'nt pay 20% of my debt by the end of October 31, I would be served and $2,500 would be added to my debt for service fee and attorny fees.  He said they would garnish my wages and take all my tax returns till it  paid. Yes this debt is 7 years old and I'm someone who doesnt check their credit regularly. What the hell is going on.  Do you pay or not. Said will be reported to credit company in 30-45 days PAID IN FULL. ??????

These people called me at work several months ago (I work for a law firm in Houston, TX) and informed me they were sending a process server to my office to serve me papers regarding an "on going investigation" concerning me. I could, however, stop the service if I called 866.201.1888 & gave them the case # provided by the caller. I told them to send the process server because I had no intention of calling anyone. Needless to say, I was never served.

Today, Kevin Wright, called from Hamner Verification Services and told me the same thing. I didn't tell him I'd been contacted before, and asked what I was being investigated for. Of course he couldn't tell me, and I hung up. I knew something was up, so I did a little "google research" and found this information. Kevin just called again a few minutes ago to ask the reason I had not yet called the number he gave me, at which I informed him I knew exactly what type of company he was with and I had no intention of calling anyone so he should take what ever legal he found necessary. Kevin, its your move!

Yes Hamner is harrassing my parents for (what i assume is a very old credit card debt) over 10 years. I will not call their number. The statuate of limitations on this debt is past, and as far as im concerened they can eat my shorts. I will be using the Collections Harrassment link above to report them.

This service has been calling be back to back for 20 mins on an "unavailable number" when an number 404-847-1266 came across I answered.  I was Kevin and told me to call 866.201.1888 & gave them the case # provided by the caller and that I was under investigation.

Kevin Wright, called from Hamner Verification Services and told me the same thing as Jan S. I didn't tell him I'd been contacted before, and asked what I was being investigated for. Of course he couldn't tell me, and I hung up. I knew something was up, so I did a little "research" and found this site.

Early this year, another company called to verify my social security number, phone number and address (Itold them, they already had it, they would calling me) because I was going to be served.  No one ever came by.

I think I will contact the Better Business Bureau. I'm in Oklahoma

I got a call two days ago from this Kevin Wright fellow.  He said he was with the Verifications Department with Hamner Investigative Services.  He told me the same thing I see on the other posts on here.  He said I was being investigated and also could not tell me about what or by whom. He said I needed to call the 866-201-1888 number and give them a case # that he gave me.  I called today and was transferred twice until I got a Mr. Webster.  It is a collections agency.  This Mr. Webster tried using his harassing verbal tactics on me and wouldn't listen to anything I had to say. He just kept on talking and wouldn't shut up.  I finally just hung up on him.  He was rude, obnoxious and disrespectful.

Imagine having a "job" where you have to lie on the internet. How sad is that! And all because this site is making it hard for you to trick victims out of money on the phone.

And then, on top of all that, being illiterate as well -- might as well do the planet a favor and quit breathing.
