I work from home and must get calls from this number 10 times a day. I answered once and it appears that no one was on the other line. Does anyone know who this company is?

Have received calls from this number starting on February 20, 2008.  Receive multiple calls week nights skipping the weekends.  Do not answer and have called the number back only once. There was music playing when I called, no human voice response.  The count is up to 35 calls.  Have discussed the matter with Verizon Wireless and their security is working on the problem.  Since the phone is listed on the DO NOT CALL LIST, I will file a report with the U.S. Attorney's office.

I believe this may be a bogus travel company located in the Arboretum, in Austin, Texas.  I am not 100% sure on this but I am trying to find out more.  These calls are so annoying, I answered the call from the 866 nubmer today and there was a live person on the phone, I was at work so I sent her to voicemail and of course no message was left.
If I can find out more about this number I will post it on here.

So, I see there are others that get these peoples phone calls, and see its this Global place and people have talked to the Better Bussiness Bureau.  I see it is a scheme....Now what is the point of them calling and nothing else is happening? Schemes have a way to sell...There is no live person and when you call back it is music.  Has anyone been told specifics on why they keep calling? What is there Scheme...

    Thanks,
    ben

Christina, you rock! Thank you for finding all of this out and posting it for the rest of us. I'm in Austin, too, and got a call at my office from the same company, but from a different area code and number (1-410-968-7967). I called the San Antonio HQ, talked to a customer service agent and had my office number taken off their calling list.

I asked how they get their numbers (my automated message said I'd entered a contest and was drawn as a winner), but the agent told me they also get some numbers in lists from third-party marketers.

Regarding Ben's question about what this company is selling, it appears to be vacation time shares. It's leaving you a message and dangling free plane tickets in front of you in hopes that you will show up at a meeting where yes, you probably will get free plane tickets, but you'll be expected to sit through several hours of what might be hard-sell tactics. They probably want you to shell out money at that presentation for a week in a condo on a beach somewhere.

Here's a description of what the company does, from Global Escapes' Web site, http://www.global-escapes.net/about.htm :

    About Us

For years, the Global Escapes Software License has facilitated the planning of hundreds of vacations for families just like your own.  By leveraging our relationships with vacation inventory providers across the globe, our licensees have access to approximately 500,000 weeks of condo and resort style accommodations throughout the year at incredible values. Additionally, our customers have access to exclusive rates at approximately 25,000 hotels worldwide and can obtain great pricing on cruises on all of the major cruise lines.

The Global Escapes proprietary search engine and the extensive resources through our toll free reservation hotline allow our licensees to conveniently plan and book their accommodations. Among those resources at our reservation center are friendly and professional staff to facilitate planning
those vacations or to help arrange special requests.

How do I find out more?

Global Escapes utilizes third parties to direct market on our behalf - you may even be hearing from us soon! Some of the ways our vendors contact consumers may involve a combination of different strategies such as online marketing, direct mail and telemarketing.   Our vendors offer a variety of great incentives for those consumers who choose to attend our fun and informative presentations.  Check out some testimonials from people just like you by clicking on the "Testimonials" button above or by clicking here.

Click here if you have questions about being contacted or to view more information about attending a scheduled presentation. I am in Austin and I too kept getting these calls everyday sometimes as much as twice a day! At least they never called on weekends. I did answer one of them and it was a live person.  Apparently (or so they said) I had set an appointment with their company which they indeed identified themselves as Global Escapes.  The reason they kept calling is because I lied to them about wanting to attend the presentation and when I failed to show, they kept trying to call me back.  Well, I am glad that I did lie the first time because this time they offered me an All Inclusive Mexico Vacation which does include airfare, and a resort stay as well as my meals.  I did attend their presentation which wasn't horrible... It was all about travel and their vacation club.  It wasn't too high pressure... just one speaker in front of about 20 couples.  My wife and I actually had a good time and we are convinced it is a good value.  We DID NOT buy anything or join their club.  We have received our travel dates to Mexico along with our tickets and itinerary and will be leaving on July 15 which is a weekday but since school is out, it works for us.

Please post how this works for you if you answer when their call... try what I did... if they offer free stuff, take advantage of it!

the global escapes people (they were difficult to understand because of their India accent) called me and never told me that they were selling anything.  All they said was that I had won american airline tickets and vacation time.  They had some of my personal info which they asked me to verify. When they call, their number does not appear on my id mechanism, so I looked up global escapes on the web.  I don't want to go and be subject to the presentation.  Can I still get the prize without listening to the presentation?

I didn't get a call, but a letter in the mail saying "Happy Birthday #@^^@." Inside is a bogus looking plane ticket voucher and says they will give you two roundtrip tickets to anywhere in the US, free week of car rental, blah blah. The contact information they give me is 1-888-634-9129, reservation #7810 to "claim this special gift." Theres also an address and a company name in the fine print, which is how i found this page.

    Blue Water
    8911N Capital of Texas Hwy
    Suite 4260
    Austin, Tx 78759

The only names I could really find that fit was the "Global Escapes" in google with the same address.
