- Steve in MACaller ID is "AmericanDiabete". They call before 8:30 in the morning! I pick up (I was expecting a call from a doctor) and say hello more than once . I hear nothing and then they hang up.
I call back soon thereafter (sadly, *67 does not work with toll free numbers). Their outgoing message is "Thank you for calling the American Diabetes Association. We're very sorry we missed you. We will try to reach you again in the next few days. If you would like to be removed from our calling list, please, press 1 now." (I never do this as it can actually make things worse.)
I am sufficiently annoyed to contact the ADA directly. I go through their phone tree. I select an option designed to get me a human who is NOT in charge of telemarketing (I do not wish to reach someone who pats me on the head and says "too bad".)
I relate to the operator that I have received 58 ADA calls from 13 numbers in about 6 months. I inform her of my early and pointless call. She actually wishes to hear these numbers, so I tell her. She asks a few more details which I provide. She offers the do-not-call list which I decline.
I asked the name of the telemarketing firm. She was unsure if there is more than one, but she seemed sure that InfoCision was one. I believe they are the same pests who do the similarly annoying calls for the March of Dimes.
I inform her that I have given in the past, but I am far less likely to give again based on their telemarketing.
I remain cool during the call. She remained cordial.
Hopefully ADA will have a little (less cordial) talk with InfoCision.- Caller: telemarketing firm InfoCision calling for the American Diabetes Association
