Call is from a collection agency called Transworld Collections.  Trying to collect $259 on a checking account that was never used and closed (by me) after one month.

I have had numerous cell phone calls from these people about a debt, called back, no answer.  I got calls on my home phone, cell phone, email....but they do not sound professional at all.  I do not have any outstanding debt.

these people never no when to quit.  wish i had there home number to call them at home every five minutes durning the night and see how they like it.

Left me a very vague voicemail asking to call back. Only the callers name not business was given. Did not return this call.

Same here, calls our business after hours and leaves message with caller's name and "reference number," but no info as to the substance of the call (what company is calling, what individual or department at *our* company they're trying to reach, what it's about, etc.) so we don't bother to return the calls.

If this was a  legitimate, professional creditor or debt collector, there would be no reason why they wouldn't call a *business* during normal daytime *business hours* if they actually wanted to speak to someone. And, there would be no reason why they wouldn't identify their company and either ask to speak to the individual to whose attention the invoice had been originally sent, or to "the accounts payable" department or whomever, if they didn't have a contact name and wanted to follow up on an outstanding invoice.

Like others who've posted, we'd been getting these "mystery" calls for several months, coming in after hours so we'd find messages on the office VM the next morning. Female caller would leave her name, and a "reference number," but no other information regarding the nature of the call, so we ignored them, figuring that a genuine business caller would be more professional. Callback number was 866 area code.

Today this individual reached us during the afternoon via a local number, claimed to be with Transworld Systems, and referenced some allegedly unpaid invoices, dating back to last summer, from one of the local business services that we use on a regular basis (printer). Background noise and conversations sounded like she was calling from a bar or restaurant.... or else they have a *really* accommodating office, with wait staff who take orders for food and cocktails :)

Of course we were suspicious, since we were sure the team at the print shop would have said *something* about this if we'd overlooked a payment, and wouldn't have continued to print our documents. :)  We use their service about once a month or so, and typically pay the bill as soon as we get the invoice.  So, I took a message and checked into this.

Called the print shop to confirm that there indeed was NO outstanding balance, and they'd not given our company's info to that individual, or to anyone else affiliated with a collection agency.  They asked for the individual's info, and suggested that we call her back also, and tell her to call their business owner, so he could set her straight about the matter.  When I called back, got VM mesage with a different individual's name, identifying self as "with Transworld Systems."

Gotta wonder how many people actually DO send money to these scammers without actually verifying the debt. Apparently it happens often enough to make these "fishing expeditions" worthwhile...

i also got a call today from a debra holmes who said she was with "regis" and was calling about a bill of $312.60. i have no such bill.
