Showed up on computer (Mac) stating there is an error code 0x800b70472C and not to close page.  Error code applicable only to Windows.

Pop-up appeared with the title: ***Apple Security Warning*** and won't go away. Had to force quit safari and relaunch with Shift key held to start a new session.

Fraudulent message: "A Suspicious Connection was trying to access your login , Banking Details & Tracking your Internet Activity...

"For more information visit nearest Apple Service Center or Contact Apple Mac Resolution Care Toll Free Number....

"           Call Toll Free: 1-866-206-6587"

Is it a real virus though? I was looking for a show I wanted to watch and the message popped up. I'm worried that the virus could be working behind the scenes

Got this message pop up today. Called the number and it didn't feel right, like it didn't feel like Apple customer service. Scam. Hung up.

Also, they wanted to gain access to my computer...that's what really got me. I said hang on, I have another call...hung up.

Same as above.  Had to quit Safari.  Big scam.  Don't pay or give in!

Are these comments applicable to Macs?  The notice appears in my Mac's Safari browser.  I have quit Safari and shut down and restarted my Mac.  The message still shows up.  If I reopen Safari while holding the Shift key, my homepage shows up, but if not, t's the warning notice.  How do I remove it from my Mac?

A browser search of the number gives suggestions for removal from PCs, but not from Macs.

Thanks for the shift key trick.  Once I got into Safari, I went to empty the cache.  I quit safari and restarted it and the message was finally gone.

So, have anybody figure out how to get rid of this completely or the mac is fine once you get around it?
