- Avoid| 6 repliesThis number goes to a craigslist eBay scam group. They will ask you to buy green dot visa or MasterCard cards and give them the numbers in exchange for a deposit on an item that is typically way too cheap and you will never see! These people are getting good! Search on the number- no relation to eBay! Run! Google green dot eBay scam for more on people that were taken
- Ripped OffWatch out! You get an invoice that looks like it is from eBay asking for a deposit using only prepaI'd cards. Sounds good NO NO!
- Almost got me| 2 repliesLady claims to be Gloria Webster. SElling a motorhome for way underprice. Wants deposit via green dot card before allowing you to look at it. I did get the invoice that looks realistic and called this number. She was selling the item on Craigslist, not eBay! Glad I realized what was going on!
- BigA replies to Almost got me| 1 replyDon't tell me let me guess, her husband/son/whatever died and it is too painful to keep? You can be sure there is no "motorhome" or car or truck, or boat, and anything, and the person you are communicating with is probably overseas. This is why they want you to use a payment that is untraceable.
- Klaire FunderburghCraigslist scammer. Sold me a very nice trailer WAY under priced. I fell for it and am now in teh whole 3,000.

- Too good to be true replies to AvoidAlso watch out for 408-890-2364. They called me back from this number when I was unable to reach them at the 866-206-9300 number. Obviously a scam. I was hoping maybe just a good deal but NO!
- lunsamom13 replies to BigAYep my husband and were looking at jet skis and came across 3 of these scams in 2 days on CL. We actually created a new "fake" gmail account esp. for this correspondence.... 2 of them - their husbands died (my first husband really did pass away - so this is totally crappy). 2 of them said they would pay for shipping...We asked to see the eBay item page being sold, she told us she had to take it down because so many people wanted to buy the jet skis she needed to pick and choose .One of them send us an invoice from eBay wanting us to pay with gift cards.....Of course we gave her a fake name and address for the fraudulent eBay invoice. Unbelievable. Im sorry for those who lost money on this [***] scam.
- GBResponded to an AD on CraigsList for a horse trailer for $1000.00 (pics looked new) ... did my research on property (no house shown on google maps) ... called 866 number (not very professional) ... searched eBay payment scams etc ... last step was to google this 866 phone number ..... Sellers name was Sharon Mallory and you guessed it her husband had died, bad memories , she and son had moved to parents house in UT blah blah blah ..... fake invoice sent from 'eBay' checked my 'messages' on eBay site; no such message existed. Never sent monies but will be sending a very nasty email to Ms Sharon Mallory late tonight so she at least has one night without any sleep or at the very least some very horrible nightmares ....
- Caller: Sharon Mallory
- Slp| 1 replySame sob story about husband dying. Travel trailer underpriced. We were alerted when the "support number" had a funny and irregular ring with no answer. Reporting tp FTC, state AG.

Here is an excerpt from the Craigslist warning ... please suggest any way they can make it "better" so you and other scammed folks can understand it. Also, tell us why you believed eBay involves itself with Craigslist items?CRAIGSLIST WARNING as published on their site:
Avoiding Scams
Deal locally, face-to-face —follow this one rule and avoid 99% of scam attempts.- Do not extend payment to anyone you have not met in person.
- Beware offers involving shipping - deal with locals you can meet in person.
- Never wire funds (e.g. Western Union) - anyone who asks you to is a scammer.
- Don't accept cashier/certified checks or money orders - banks cash fakes, then hold you responsible.
- Transactions are between users only, no third party provides a "guarantee".
- Never give out financial info (bank account, social security, paypal account, etc).
- Do not rent or purchase sight-unseen—that amazing "deal" may not exist.
- Refuse background/credit checks until you have met landlord/employer in person.
Recognizing scams
Most scams attempts involve one or more of the following:- Email or text from someone that is not local to your area.
- Vague initial inquiry, e.g. asking about "the item." Poor grammar/spelling.
- Western Union, Money Gram, cashier check, money order, paypal, shipping, escrow service, or a "guarantee."
- Inability or refusal to meet face-to-face to complete the transaction.

~~~~~~~~ - Awful scam replies to AvoidThey have gotten very good. The documents they send are complete replicas of actual eBay documents and request payments in some of the forms eBay accepts. They also guarantee that money is being held by eBay until you call and say you want to continue with the purchase. Truth is money is gone the moment it is given and you will never see what they say they are holding the money for. They are currently trying to sell a trailer using the seller name Gloria Webster.
- Awful scam replies to JoAnnWere you trying to purchase a trailer for $1000?
- G.G. replies to AvoidIt's a scam for sure! They apparently are scamming not only from eBay, and Craiglist, they are making scam calls too for different scams. Email address they go by is gwebster@xfinitydevice.
- John M replies to SlpCurrent one on Craig's List is for an RV...2015 Coachman Freeloader 21QB. I got the same type email in response to my inquiry....Bottom line--if it sounds too good to be true then it is too good to be true....Glad I started tracking down info re Gloria Webster
- Jesse BYep we were nearly taken for 1000 on a horse trailer. My wife actually had the prepaid cards and even gave the scammer the numbers. Something did not sit right with the whole situation so I googled the number and found you wonderful people. She had actually given all of the accesses codes and card numbers to the lady and then said she decided she wanted to cancel the order (yea right). I called "Veronica" back and she answered "hello" and then I let her have it. She hung up and blocked my number. I beat her to the punch and rushed to target.com and ordered a 1000 worth of gift card merchandise before she could use the cards. I honestly have never felt better haha! 866-206-9300
