- TheThickster| 5 repliesI was looking at my online bank statement and found charges from "Digital Goods Shop 866-207-7523 NE" I call the number and they have only two options. #1 If you dont recognize charges #2 Customer Service. I chose option 1 and it asked my for my last 6 digits of my debit/credit card. 2 they never answered. I spoke with my bank and they say they cant file a claim on a pending transaction, but if its posted they will credit my account. Im really bothered by this why are people taking my money without my consent.
- Anianna| 1 replyI had two pending charges on my bank account marked "DIGITAL GOODS SHOP 866-207 4821". When one finally moved to transacted, it changed to "DIGITAL GOODS SHOP 866-207-7523 CA 4821". The other is still pending.
- Jimbo311 replies to AniannaI have the same issue. I called the number and can never get a human on the phone. If you press 1 it asks for the last 6 digits on your debit card. If you put that in, it asks you if you want a refund. I said yes and it said my money would be refunded in three to five days. I reported it to the bank as fraud but I have to wait for the transaction to clear.
- DanI got this charge on my checking account, same as some have mentioned here - Digital Goods Shop. Two charges, one for $1, second for $39.95 - neither of which was authorized my my wife or me. I called the 866-207-7523 number, and got the same two options as were mentioned in previous posts.
My good friend just told me his brother had a random software company charge him $1, then $39, then a $1,000 charge hit!
My wife just got back from the bank - the charge stemmed from my debit card, so we canceled that immediately. Now I have to get a police report and make a fraudulent charge claim or something. This sucks. - Jessica| 3 repliesI just looked at my bank account online and saw the unauthorized charges from Digital Goods Shop, one for $1.00 and the other for $29.95. I called the 866 number to request a refund and I am going to call my bank to see if there is anything I can do to stop the charge. Can anything be done to stop these charges?
- Christina replies to Jessica| 2 repliesI just received my credit card bill today and had a charge for $29.95 for these people. You need to call your credit card company and have them put it as fraud. If it makes you feel better have them cancel your credit card and issue a new one, thats what I did. Also never give anyone your credit card information especially when they don't even state the company name when you call the phone number.
- Anianna replies to Christina| 1 replyThat is good advice, but I got hit with these charges without having made any of those mistakes. I use my card very little and just happen to have put some money into the account for Christmas purchases. I made a few online purchases and can only assume one of the stores I purchased from was not secure.
The list below is the entirety of my shopping locations with the card I received the erroneous charges on. I'm curious if any of us share a common shop that may be the source of all of this:
Joann - in store
Amazon - online
Harbor Freight - phone order
WalMart - online and in store
Michaels - in store
Home Depot - in store
Barnes&Noble - online
Dad's Rock Shop - online
BookCloseouts - online
Ben Franklin - in store
The Shelving Store - online - Bill| 1 replyI also got hit with a charge of $29.95 from the Digital Goods Store on my credit card on 12/17/2009. Called my bank and they have filed a fraudulent claim and closed out my card. Here's list of merchants paid on my card over the last quarter:
Taipan Publishing - phone
PayPal (Ebay and online merchants)
Amazon - online
Guitar Center - in store
Frickers - in store
Common link with Anianna is Amazon. - RandyToday I also received a $1.00 charge and then a $29.95 charge today from Digital Goods Shop with the same phone number: 866-207-7523. I called the bank to cancel the card and reissue me a new one. Since it's still "pending" the bank said that I can't dispute the charge because it hasn't gone through yet. But once it goes through I can dispute it with Bank of America. I'm not going to call the 866 number because they wouldn't be able to give me a refund on that card anyway--since I just canceled it.
- shawnI just checked my statement aswell and found a 29.99 charge from Digital Goods . I have been on the phone for 20 min. until i found this site and realized its helpless to try. wentto bank and cancelled card then disputed charges since it was still in pending mode.
Great holiday season when thieves try stealing from you everywhere you turn..........HO HO HO - TheThicksterThe charge from Digital Goods Shop finally posted and I called my bank to file a claim. They sent me a later yesterday saying that it indeed was a fraudulent charge for $29.95. Please anyone who calls the number dont enter your debit card number. I have a feeling they people are using random Debit/Credit card numbers to see which ones they hit, then when you enter your number they know for sure they "hit" you and will start doing it again.
- RonI just got $1 charged to my bank account from these people as well.
The only place I've used my card recently is on Amazon.co.uk to ship something into the states.
What's going on with amazon? - L.S.A 29.95 charge posted to my account. The transaction allegedly took place on Christmas Eve and I know for a FACT I didnt do any shopping. I called my credit card company and asked for more information. They gave me the 866-207-7523 number. I called the automated number and its very fishy. I called my credit card company back and filed a dispute. Their going to credit my card back and leave the burden on "Digital Goods" to prove the claim. I'm going to request a new credit card number.
- Susan replies to TheThicksterI called my bank and was told that the charge was for an AARP publication. It seems odd to me that something called "digital" would come from AARP, but that is what was found. I requested a refund, but it seems odd that, without any explanation, a refund would just be given.
- JThis happened to me too.
Initially 2 charges, 1 for $1.00 and the other for $29.95. I have already cancelled my debt card. A fraudulent charge claim has been filed.
The $29.95 charge has been processed.
The $1 charge is still pending.
The only place where I have purchased anything is from Amazon. Amazon uses different vendors. It has to be from one of these purchases.- Caller: DIGITAL GOODS SHOP
- TamiSame problem with me. Bogus charges of $29.95 on 12/30 and then a $1 charge on 12/31 fom "DIGITAL GOODS SHOP 866-207-7523 CA" Had to call the bank and cancel my debit card. They are sending me a fraud claim form to dispute, etc. Going to check and see if there is a way to alert the government because apparently this has been going on for a few weeks now -this has got to be a Federal crime since its across State lines, etc., right?
- Melissa| 3 repliesI contacted my local news station, because I too was a victim of these people. A new computer virus hit major websites that use PayPal, like Ebay and Amazon. The virus takes debit card number, credit card numbers, email addresses and any other personal information you have listed for billing purposes on the website. Computer techs across the country have been trying to track the virus and have so far been unsuccessful. The virus has the potential to effect more than 1 million people that used PayPal this Christmas. So far, it has cost me $330.00. All because I bought a $14 DVD off of Amazon.
- Lee replies to Melissa| 2 repliesCan you elaborate more on your charge? Was it multiple charges made that added up to $330 or did they take that amount out at one time? Did it occur on one single day? Also, did the charge state is was from Digital Services etc or was there another named used?
I was also affected by this but only in the amount of 29.95. I never used my credit card to shop on amazon, paypal, or ebay. So I'm still trying to figure out where the breach could have happened. Thank you for sharing your stories. - Melissa replies to Lee| 1 replyAt first, I was charged $1.00 and then $29.95 on the same day. The $1.00 charge disappeared about a day later but the $29.95 never did. Then, three days later I was hit with a charge of $300.00. Both of the charges said they were made by the Digital Goods Shop listed with this 866 phone number out of California.
Keep in mind, this computer virus had access to email and all other personal information so your banking information could have been gained through that. I hope this helps. - Lee replies to MelissaIt happened again, today! I can't believe this. This time it was for my bank card instead of credit card. I called my bank immediately. I only use this bank card to shop on amazon.com. The charge on my card states its from Pending "RYANAIR CO DUBLIN IE" In the amount of $229.95. What is going on?! The bank told me I can not dispute the charge until it posts to my account. This is the second fraudulent charge in 2 weeks on 2 different cards. As I stated before I didnt use my credit card on amazon, but my bank card was only used for amazon.com purchases. This is unbelievable. Truly unbelievable...Everyone please update us if any more charges occur on your card.
