- nguyenyeah i used amazon recently and and i got chaged $29.95 today with the same number from digital goods shop. wtf... its now pending and i called and they asked for the last 6 digits of my debit and then it said your card will be refunded? whells?
- ronarmI had the same issue as several of the others. A $29.95 and a 1.00 charge showed up on my checking account online attributed to "DIGITAL GOODS SHOP 866-207-7523 NEUS" and indicating it was charged to my Visa check card. I googled it, found this website and called my bank to file an unauthorized charge claim and cancel my check card. I didn't bother calling the 866 number after finding out that it was a scam. I used this card often - i.e. Target, Macys and B&N stores; Amazon.com, and various places in person (i.e. restaurants - I live in Minnesota). Also, I used it to pay my son's grade school meal plan online.

This is crap! - BryceI have the SAME issue. I believe that it is PayPal. I ordered something and used PayPal on New Years Day and last night I found the mysterious charge. I called and did the whole refund thing. I called my bank, they could not do anything until it posts. Someone needs to fix this!!!! Someone is out there getting rich!!
- legal ladyfraudulent credit card charge!
- BryceThey DO refund it...I closed my card however and reported it to my bank.
- lil ladyI had this happen to me today. I have a habit of checking my bank account at least twice daily since I frequently use my debit card. I have to admit that I do a lot of online shopping as well, however I stick to well known companies i.e. target.com, nordstrom.com etc. much like most of you here, I had two different charges on my checking account. one for $1 and the other for 29.95. I called Bank of America to dispute this with them, they also told me that they cannot do anything until the transaction has cleared. They even told me to call that number to see if I can dispute the charge with that company. I got the same automated message that everyone else has been getting, and when I heard the automated message thing, it dawned on me that I had heard a news segment about this scam several weeks ago. The news segment said that you will get a suspicious charge on your credit/debit card and you will want to call that 866 number. Then it will give you the option to 1)enter your debit/credit card number in so they will "refund" you or 2) talk to a customer representative. The scam is that for those who press 1 and enter your card number in, they will say that they will refund/reimburse you for whatever reason but they will actually try to charge you for more money. If I can find that news article I will definitely post it on here. Good luck to all of you.
- JayHi All,
So, skipping to the main point of my story - I somehow got this money refunded back to my bank account. Here's what happened:
This happened to me at the end of December. I noticed two unauthorized charges to my account on 12/31/09 - one for $1, and one for $29.95. I called my bank (Bank of America), but since the charges were still in pending at the time, I had to wait until they went through. That same night, I called the 866 number above (also listed on my bank statement next to the charges) and heard the automated message, which said something like "If you don't recognize the charge on your statement, press 1", or that I could leave a message instead. So I pressed 1. Then the automated message said that if I would like a refund, please enter the last 6 digits of my card. There wasn't a lot of money left in my checking, so I figured hey, what the hell, if they tried to charge me again for a lot of money it wouldn't go through. So I entered the last 6 digits of my card number. Then the automated message said that it would take 3-5 days to show up on my statement and then the call ended.
I then called back again and decided to leave a message this time. I had no idea if anyone would listen to it, but regardless I said that I reported it to my bank as a fraudulent charge, that I left my card number for the full refund of $30.95, and that there would be an investigation into this fraudulent charge. I didn't know if it would work, but low and behold on 1/4/10, I noticed that the $1 was removed and that there was a deposit of $29.95 into my account.
Though this money was refunded, I'm about to call my bank right now to get a new card with a new card number so this s*** doesn't happen again.
Hope this helps. - MichaelHello everybody,
I noticed a charge from this number tonight with the same Digital Goods Shop for 29.95 which was posted on New Years Day. I know I didn't buy anything on New Years day and I called my credit card company and put a dispute in the charge. I did call this number but all I got was the useless automated message. Thankfully I did google this number which led me to this site so I didn't leave any info. First time this has happened and I have no clue on how they got my number due to the fact I have never used Amazon or paypal. So just keep an eye on your accounts and tommorow I will be stopping by my bank to make sure they didn't get into my checking account.
ps thanks to others who posted info as well - phoenix man replies to legal ladysame thing happened to me .. i called my bank and they're sending me a new CC and number and stuff . there was a $29.95 charge and $1 pending charge ..
- debbaHad the same $29.95 transaction on a BOA debit card. Called the 866 number and it asked for the last 6 digits of the debit card which seemed very odd to me. Needless to say, I figured this was a scam and called BOA immediately. They took off the charges and reissued a debit card after I canceled the old one. I just have to sign an affidavit that says this was a true occurrence. My daughter had the idea to look up the phone number. I see I wasn't the only one ripped off!!
- SINKO replies to TheThicksterI had the same 29.95 charge on my debit card. I also used Amazon to purchase a Christmas gift. Has anyone contacted Amazon. I have contacted my bank to cancel my debit card, but am peeved to have to do so. Thanks to everyone for their posts to shine some light on this situation.

home depot - MikeyChecking my online bank statement earlier today and noticed the same charges that everyone else has. $29.95 posted Thursday of last week (01_14_2010) and $1.00 pending. Called my bank to file a fraud claim. Awesome.
My last Amazon purchase was at Christmas, my last PayPal purchase was in early December, but I have used my debit card at a Home Depot store more recently then those. Maybe they're a common thread in all this... - NAI just got a $29.95 charge from Digital Goods Shop - 866-207-7523 CA, the charge lists it as a Computer Software Store. Their number goes back to 323-570-0466, a T-Mobile number in Los angeles.
- billybob_81067I just checked my credit card statement online and noticed a charge from this "DIGITAL GOODS SHOP 866-207-7523 CA" for 29.95. I too made a purchase from Amazon before Christmas. No recent paypal payments.
- Nate| 1 replyChecked my credit card statement and noticed a charge of $29.95 from Digital Goods Shop with that phone number listed on 1/8. The only Amazon.com connection I have are 2 book purchases back in early November. Already called my bank to reverse the charges.
- traceym replies to TheThicksterJust called my bank too. Who are these people? Cancelled my debit card too. I called PayPal though and the charge didn't go through them. Guess I'm changing my pin too...
