Victim was directed to call this number in a Grandparent scam. This was supposed to be the number to a Public defender who advised the grandmother needed to pay $6500 bail via Western Union for grandson. They will try to keep you on the phone.

Same situation as above.  Advised to call this number. BUT, the person had the name of our son (but not that of our grandson), state we are in and state our son is in.  In attempt to explain a different voice, the person said they were in an accident and had a fractured nose.

Again, almost same situation as above except myself and my relative both live in a different state than the call came from. And what was kind of strange is that the "incarcerated relative" new my name. Than shortly after getting off the phone my so called relative "Ben Wallace" the public defender called me immediately to give me directions on how to transfer the bail funds. I was also told that my relative had a broken nose and stitches in his lip making it hard to understand what he was saying.

Awhile ago (9:22 AM) had a call from 866-212-3140 from my grandson asking me for bailout money.  He was at the courthouse in Houston, Texas and we asked him why his voice sounded different.  He said he said he was in a car accident and had fractured his nose and was taped.  He said he needed $6500 cash to get released.  I asked him if he had called my son (his father) a and told me that he did not want him to know.  It sounded very suspicious and we kept asking questions and he hung up all of a sudden.  I googled the number and sure enough it was a scam phone call.
