Just got a call..they told me it was AMEX Canada Fraud department. It seems like it's true.

Yep, it is legit.

OK - retract previous msg.  It's legit.  Just got confirmation from AMEX.  It's the AMEX fraud number.

American Express Canada fraud department.  They called because I had a charge from an on-line business and wanted to verify the transaction.

I got a call at that number.  They knew specific information of my expenses with my AMEX card.  I think it's AMEX fraud department.

It is legit for sure I phoned Amex and verified it

This is the number for the American Express Fraud Department alerting you to suspicious activity involving your credit card.  This is a valid call.  They will leave a message stating this as well and alert you that this is not a telemarketing call.

Call came in at noon then hung up. no voice or computer.

They watch all the time for suspect activity, it's great, has saved me thousands ... !!

I called this number back and the first thing they asked me for was my entire card number. It sounded like a legit AmEx number but I still wasn't convinced. They then told me to call the number on the back of my card, which was legitimated advice.

I also had an email from Amex asking me to call this number or the number on the back of my card. I figured since they suggested I call the number on the back of my card that it was legit. I did not call this 866-215-5388 # but did call the one on my card. It was a legit concern. Happy to hear they are monitoring!

Getting a call from this number everyday even after I answered and told them I don't even have an AMEX... Weird?

I just got a call and an email from "Amex". I didn't answer the call, I called them back later. The machine that picked up had some stuff about me winning a cruise to the Bahamas! clearly a scam! Maybe at some point in time this number was legit, but apparently not anymore in December 2013.

This is a legit number. Sometimes AMEX will have a wrong phone number so even if you don't have a card you can call them and tell them to stop calling. I did.

Use the telephone number printed on the back of your card and then ask if it is legit or not.

I don't even have an AMEX and I got a call. No message either.

I called the operator and help me block this number. They traced it and said they can not because it is from over seas. (China).

Not true..I neer had an AMEX card and still got a call from supposedly amex fraud department

It is definitely amex fraud alert. Very helpful & saved me some money.
