Received a call from this number and called the number on the back of my Amex card. The rep said it's an Amex number but there is no suspicious activity on my account. Suggested it was a phishing attempt despite the number on call display.

Similar to most above. I call my bank, card provider, who checked everything was OK and no flags. Called the number back and rather than enter my number used the 'agent' tag. Heard a transfer and then very quickly the call was disconnected. I'm going to trust my bank and not this number.

The scammers are back at it again. Phoning early on a Sunday morning. Both on my mobile and home. Leaving no messages.

Keep in mind, just because a number is legit, doesn't mean the caller is!

Scammers spoof legitimate numbers to trick people into a false sense of security to answer their calls and attempt to get money or personal information from you.
This is why no one will encourage others to report of legitimate numbers, as they only confuse people into believing it is a legit call when a scammer has called them and they come here to find out about the call.

If it is a legitimate call, then anyone receiving a call would know WHY they got a call from this number, right?
So what would be a reason to come and post about it to a site designed to share information about UNKNOWN callers, such as Telemarketers, Scammers and Debt Collectors?

If your call was legit,  telling about it won't  be any comfort to those who may get a spoofed call from some scammer!

i got two emails regarding possible fraud activity on my AMEX card. I called the number and it sounded convincing with the recording you normally hear asking for the card number and then connected me to an agent. He read both amounts to me without me prompting him and stated that I would be refunded for those two charges, then destroy my card and I would receive a new card within the next week. He also said to check my balance within the next 72 hours and see if I recognized the charges on my card. If I don't then I would be refunded those amounts.

I received an automated call from this number asking me to return the call concerning a potential fraudulent use of my Amex card.  I called the number on the back of my card instead and learned that the first number was legitimately Amex fraud department and there had indeed been an attempt to fraudulently use my Amex card number.

It's always better to call the number on the back of your card rather than take a caller's claims as truth.

This can't be a legit number/name. Because they called me & I don't have an American Express card. I have no credit cards.

I called the number on the back of my card and it was really their department. They asked about my recent big purchase.

Then why are you here? There is no logical reason for you to be here since you already know who called. Besides; even if your call was legitimate that doesn't mean all calls from this number are. Or have you somehow never heard of phone number spoofing?

Well of course it was Amex if you called them from the number on the back of your card.  Who else would you have expected it to be?  Santa Claus?
