Received a call from this number claiming to be Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. And to please call them back. When I called back I am given the option to put in my loan # or my SSN.

I contacted Wells Fargo from a different, yet well known number and was told that this phone number did not match anything they were associated with.

I've been getting calls by this number, but we've been hanging up.

Got same message to call number, since I paid my mortgage online a few hours earlier I though it was related, so stupid of me entered loan number and last 4 of SSN, then record said all associates were busy and to call later.

Called later to phone number in my statement and they said they don't recognize that phone number, so they put a password on my profile. Also contacted equifax to put a watch in my credit (free for 90 days).

I phoned Wells Fargo. This *is* the collection department.

What happened to me is someone else had a delinquent account
and they had used my home number
- before I had it
- (OR) by mistake
- (OR) randomly

Phone Wells Fargo fraud department, and ask them about this if you are unsure.

Yep, Wells Fargo, calling because my house payment is indeed past due.

Caller left message on Answering machine. Female voice delivered the  canned message: "Call Wells Fargo Mortgage at THIS number.... blah, blah, blah!"

Keep calling and if I don't answer-- hang up

I was on vacation, and returned to several messages from this number claiming to be Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. No details why they are calling and I have NEVER been delinquint. I was suspicious so I checked my account status first and still 100% great and up to date.
I dialed the number back, and get the same recording asking for loan number or SSN. I hung up, and googled it and here I am.

I may go into my local branch to investigate. It must be a mistake and must stop, (or it IS fraud).

It's legit. It is indeed Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. I am late because I made a payment using online bill pay at my credit union and gave the wrong Wells Fargo account number.  Regardless of what others say, it is NOT a false number.

Received call from this number. No one was there I kept saying hello but to no answer.  I hung up and gooled the number.

Got a call from this number stating it was Wells Fargo and to call back. I'm glad I checked up on this before returning the call.

i just got a call from that 866-228-3535 and a man's recorded voice said it was wells fargo.  i did not answer.  good thing i did not answer too, b/c it's got to be a scam!  i have never had a wells fargo account.   so i know this is
a). a scam
or
b). an error and someone is using very old data, b/c i've had my phone number since 1995.  
funny how someone is calling now... 2 days before christmas.

I consistently get calls from Wells Fargo wanting me to call them back right away and have my account # ready. I don't call anybody that wants personal info of any kind. This happens on two different phone numbers listed to me.

I have had my phone number for 48 yesrs. Maybe that's the problem.

Every one that gets a call from this number should make a complaint with the "Do not call registry" If you don't complain, they don't do anything. It takes about 2 minutes to fill in the blanks for a complaint.
