- eh
Company is UCF - they're a scam collection company. Don't give them anything, don't even talk to them. Everything they tell you is bull crap. They are not legitimate. If you talk to them they'll keep calling. Ignore them and they'll go away.- Caller: UCF
- AmyJust received the same phone call, saying I was named in a claim with a Rebecca Lopez. Call was from a Patrick Flannigan, but no agency name. I knew to google it right away.
- knA call was received from a Lisa Lewis stating a claim number. The call was made to a close relative of mine, not to me. When I called back, the company listed was "UCS" (different than the UCF listed previously). They had bits of my information correct, but not all which immediately meant to me that they are scamming and searching. They must be really searching because they got a hold of a relative first and not me personally. Ignoring will eventually make them give up, but not until after many phone calls, and now I have to tell my relatives to ignore the same calls. Very annoying!

- heather tMy husband got a call last week they left a msg saying he's been warned this is his final msg he's being sued and left a case number!! My husband didn't fall for it! Now today I get a msg from a Lisa Lewis for my husband with a case number stating she just needed to confirm his home address or his place of employment to get that paper work to him about a suit he's been named in!! A bunch of scammers is what they are!! SCUMBAGS!!

- BigA replies to Emma| 2 repliesThe fake process server/location finder extortion SCAM usually consists of the following:
They mention that they have received a Fax document or some sort of complaint and that there is a pending legal matter or action about to filed against you to create the sense of urgency. They tell you that they are a “process server” and cannot give you the particulars of the case since the file is sealed. This is simply ruse to get you to call another number (often with a made-up case number) where they will ask for money to “make it go away” (this is actually the same place, they work in teams, one pretending to be the server, and the other usually pretends to be a lawyer). They threaten to serve you at home or at work. They tell you that if they serve you at work then they will need a supervisor, security, or HR person there as a witness, hoping that will cause you to panic over the alleged embarrassment of being served at work. They also tell you that you will need two forms of ID. None of which is true. Process servers do not ever call ahead so that you can dodge them. Process servers get paid to serve papers, nothing else. They certainly are not going to pass up a paycheck by telling you that you can avoid being served, they are not going to give you an extra day or even a few hours to get a “stop order”. Court documents are time sensitive and must be served within a certain amount of time. Remember that you can always call the local courthouse to see if there really is a lawsuit that has been filed against you.
It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it. You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified. If and when you get that letter you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.
First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file complaints with the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

- Joeand Hale| 3 repliesThey said, I owed 1300, was going to be sued in court, unless I pay it off, so Ive been paying 100 dollars, out of my bank account, every week (Friday). I recently lost my job, and can't pay....I've called, called, and called the number....No one answers....then it hangs up. Now, I believe, I've been scammed.

- BigA replies to Joeand Hale| 2 repliesYou might believe it but I know it. Simply because you did not make them follow the letter of the law.
- PJS| 1 replyThey threatened a warrant out for my arrest & had my social security number & all of my information. I believed it but they just took my last $400 and now I feel scammed from the google reviews.

- BigA replies to PJSNo one gets arrested because they didn't pay a bill. Arrest warrants come from the district attorney and the police department. I would think everyone should know that. No feeling about it, you were 100% scammed.
- Laura JacksonI think I have fallen into this scam. I’ve been paying $200 for five months, and if I’m a day late I get a threatening phone call. When I try to call back the voicemail box is full. I do not understand who they are even collecting for.

- LW| 1 replyUnfortunately I went through hard times took out a couple installment or pay day loans and did not pay them back. The Assurance folks were able to track me down and went as far as calling my workplace to basically get me to call them back with a file number and what not. Once I confirmed my information they advised me what they were calling in regards to and who they were representing (pay day loan companies) and set me up on a payment plan to pay the money back.

- WGYep this is a scam company 100% they work in tandem with a company that claims to be called Securian. They pretend you have a debt and that a location in your county has been placed on you. Usually leave the message from a private number posing as a process sever. Also watch out for the number 855-410-6165. These are the people they work in tandem with. Always contact the original loan company before ever paying anything. Or demand documentation first.
