- Sandra| 5 repliesI had a call from them and they said I was being "sued". They had the last 4 of my social security number and wanted to "verify" more information from me. I work for a law firm and I can tell you this...if it truly were a "lawsuit" and they wanted to serve me, they would do so without notifying me in advance and wanting information given over the phone! Last time this woman called, I informed her that I was a paralegal and she got mad and yelled at me that she was gonna serve me and then hung up. I am yet to get served with anything! DON'T FALL FOR THIS SCAM!! IF IT TRULY WAS A LAWSUIT, THEY WOULD NOT CALL YOU TO GET YOUR INFORMATION!!
- Julie M.| 1 replyI got a call from that number just now for my husband, who is deployed. It was anonymous so of course I didn't answer it. They had the last four of his social and sounded threatening. They said a fax came into their office today for a suit against my husband and they intended on serving us in the next 24-48 hrs. He went on to say if it was an inconvenient time he or his attorney could call with the case # and deal with it that way. His name was Stanley Smith. When I did a reverse lookup no information was available. Hmm something stinks about this one.
- Sir Bedevere replies to Julie M.Check out Sandra's post above yours. It's a scam.
- Tina replies to Sandra| 1 replyDid you find out anything, anyway of getting them to stop harassing you. Where you able to get any info on them? They have called my job and My Daughter, telling them that I am going to be arrested. What can I do so they stop calling my job...
- PA person| 1 replyMy wife just received a call from an "unknown" number (no caller id), so we let it go to voicemail. The caller indicated my wife's name and that she just received a fax in her office notifying her to call us for a law firm. She wanted to verify some information, gave some lawyers name of something and associates and then asked my wife to call 866-232-7216 with a case number. Sounded like a scam so we didn't return the call. I figure if someone legitimately needs some information from her, they would have contacted her with the caller id number showing or contacted her in a more traditional way.
- Elspeth replies to PA personIf a lawyer's office needs to talk to you, the normal route is to send you a letter via USPS asking you to contact them.
- Elspeth replies to TinaReport your caller to the FTC, FBI, Dept of Justice and your state's Attorney General. You should also print out this thread and give it to your HR Dept and/or manager so they can see you're being harassed by a scammer/junk debt buyer. Advise the caller that you're recording all calls they make to you (and do so).
- Maria in ILHow odd, now this number is being used as a bogus "removal" number on junk fax scams.
To echo previous comments, if you ever get a call where the person is threatening you or demanding personal information like this, hang up and report the call. If a lawyer's office needs to serve you, they will not tip you off over the phone first, but rather serve you in person.- Caller: scam

- Kathy W replies to Sandra| 1 replyDidn't call ; got into our bank account ! I never signed up for anything
- Slim replies to Kathy WLetsee ...
You are "answering" a post made on 19 Nov 2013 (how time flies!)
You said they did not call you (but this is a phone call complaints site!)
Just in case you are really real, did you contact your bank about the problem? After all, that would be the appropriate response. - Jim P.Someone from this number called and misrepresented themselves as an agent from the "MyRentToOwn" website that I had joined on a 7 day trial, and then subsequently cancelled. I told them that I had cancelled and they said they had no record of the cancellation, but that they can help me cancel and asked for my credit card number to complete the task. I foolishly gave it to them. they told me that I am now cancelled, but now my bank account I just got billed for $49.95 from this 866-232-7261 number! When I called the real "MyRentToOwn" company, they confirmed that I had canceled and had not been billed and wouldn't be billed. They told me I had gotten scammed and should immediately have my bank close my credit card number!

- Tim Mcmonigal replies to SandraThey are blocked on my phone and because of my unusual last name they tracked my son's cell phone they come up under other numbers as well. My health isn't good and these people don't even know about the fair credit act of the united States of America. They had the last 4_of my social this is against the law.
- KristineHad a charge on my credit card from this phone number. Called my bank they put a block on all transactions from this company and reverses the 39.90 immediately. I did not order anything or buy anything online. Not sure how they got my info. Bank stated it was a scam
