I got a call from this number on my cell phone. The phone rang a few times and when I answered they disconnected.

I just let it go to busy. I'm sick of these numbers. Anyone know who they belong to?

For me, it was a car dealership (Key West Ford in BC) call-out service reminding me to bring my vehicle in for servicing. They left a message on my voice mail and it cut out most of the message, but I managed to hear the last 4 numbers of their "real" phone number and just happened to have their number sitting on my desk.

Got a call from 866 232 9543 ... The person calling was a female with a heavy Hispanic accent. I knew it was bogus and did'nt have the patience to listen to the BS she was talking about.

After saying thank you curtly, I hung up. But the I felt guilty thinking it could have been a legitimate call and I quickly punched in the said number in Google to find out that i was not the only person being bothered by an unwanted call on a friday night.

I am relieved that it was a bogus call, but i am curious as to who is doing this calling and why? What's in it for them?

Can someone give me the short course on this scam?
