Now back to topic...just because a business is listed with the Secretary of State in a respective state, listed with the Better Business Bureau, or listed with the Chamber of Commerce does not mean that the business is legitimate. In fact, many advanced scammers register with these organizations to build credibility and respectability. You will need to dig deeper to discern whether or not you should trust the entity in question. In this case, I certainly do not trust the Presidential Who's Who.

I agree with Scam Buster. Irregardless is recognized as a word even tho its meaning is the same as regardless. But this is not a site dedicated to proper spelling...it is a site dedicated to stopping these unwanted and harassing calls. So lets focus our efforts there.

I say what does this caller actually do for you? List me on some so-called award list? OK can I put that on my resume and you back it up if called for verification? Received a fax from "Presidential Who's Who" on 8/19/08. Made a phone call to the number presented on the fax document and received no answer, only a recurring voice message recorder. Also sent an email inquiry to the address provided on their website and received a returned delivery reply containing "550 No Such User Here" statement. It would be nice if the FBI could look into this seemingly hoax as the inscription on the fax document letterhead appear to be that used on U.S. government websites, particularly the Whitehouse. Why would someone waste their time engaging behavior like this is far beyond my comprehension, too much time on their hands. Whoever it is behind the hoax I believe they are probably validating a fax listing for telemarketing companies or data mining companies who inturn will sell your information.

Even county & government officials are being scammed - hook, line and sinker!  The information included on the web page is almost verbatim from the FAX page.

Just doing a Google search fro "Presidential Who's Who" or "MarkAnthony McGuiness" brings up plenty of hits.  The websites merely use them as a way to say they received an "award".  The only purpose I can see in doing this is to say .. "Gee I am a Triple Platinum, Super Dooper, Lifetime Achievement Award Winner for the Presidential Who's Who"

Obviously a mass fax distribution from a company looking to obtain private information and sell plaques. What a shameful definition of free enterprise. I got the fax too.  Also went to their website.  Anyone qualifies!!

Was sent a fax. The first sentence says that "your information was reviewed". If they reviewed your information why are they asking for it. They should already have it.

Received same fax; different respond back to fax number (866) 676-5744.  Poorly written, global fax. Appears to be solicitation of information.  Mine is in the shredder.

Any endorsements of this fax scam are just a continuation of this and countless other scams. I've gotten trays full of these fax scams at my office and home over the last couple of years. Requesting removel from fax lists is useless. The toll free fax removal numbers change constantly. I know that continuing to send faxes to numbers that have requested removal is illegal but we're not dealing with law abiding companies. I've gone so far as setting my machines to manual fax acceptance but logistically, that just wasn't an option. This practice aggravates me to no end.

I just went from being aggravated about recieving another fax scam to laughing out loud about people and businesses that actually consider responding to this fax an "Achievement" It reminds me of those bogus diplomas and awards that people display on their office walls. Apparently they have a hard time succeding on their own merits. Kind of sad actually. Anyways, Thanks for the laugh.

Note the following: a) the letter is addressing the owner, even though it doesn't state your name; so, I guess that starting right-there, I should start thinking that if I was the one who priorly contacted them, I should have known that a response from them asking for xtra information would be normal, right? b)the letter says they already reviewed and accepted your information; then, why would they need any xtra information on this fax form again? c)the letter mentions that they recognize those who have reached a distinguished level of success in their chosen profession,right? and now they want to know what type of business you have, etc., didn't they said at the beggining of the letter your information was accepted??????

I received a fax, and filled it out sending it back. I was then contacted today from this company.I spoke to a Shawn Kahnan .Something about this did not seem right.when I did not agree with purchasing the book or plaque, he became very pushy with pressuring, and making very rude comments of why I did not got with this.I'm glad I did not buy into this scam !!

If you're going to chide folks for their inadequate command of the language and syntax, at least spell 'grammar' and 'bottom' correctly.  And, 'irregardless' is not a word.

We also recvd fax and knew it was a scam when it said "your information was reviewed and accepted" then asked for all of our information!!!!  That's unbelieveably stupid!!

I normally wouldn't take the time to write this, but I am so frustrated with this "company" that I want everyone out there to know this. Had I not read the comments posted on here, I would have probably fallen for this! I received the same fax in August of 2008 - didn't think much of it, completed the form  and faxed it back. I got a call from one of their representatives this morning - the guy tried to sell me a package for $800, I said no and he went down to $650 - this continued till we were at $200. He wouldn't let go, I said I needed time to think about it, and they said it was now or never, they could not accept the information any other day - it was company policy. I was like... WHAT? Kept me on the phone for 25 minutes throwing every sales line in the book at me. One of the most annoying experiences of my life!!! Anyone out there even contemplating faxing back the form - DON'T. Save yourself the time, energy,and definitely the money.
