- JB83They called my cell phone but I was working and unable to answer. I called back and spoke with Latoya, who seemed nice enough, but she had no idea why someone called me. She did say that it was possible that someone may have given my name as a reference for a large purchase. she apologized and that was the end of it- no solicitation or rudeness.

- LindaCall from these jerks to my unlisted cell number. I have no debts and have had none for over ten years! I never co-sign for anyone. So that leaves only their likely being on a phishing expedition! They are an "alleged debt collector", but since they have no legitimate reason to call me, now I am wondering whether they truly are a legit operation.

- Alexander Gram BellThis number calls everyday during my work hours. I can't answer so I wait to see if they leave a voicemail. They don't so it leaves me to believe that they are looking for something or someone.

- JoeThey called me asking for someone who was late on a bill. I think everyone who is upset is either a reference or someone who doesn't know how to pay their Bill's on time.

- BigA replies to SteveYou should actually learn to read the law before making ridiculous statements such as that. Post reported.
- Steve| 1 replyCalled my cell. YouMail blocked the call so came here to find out what they they called. I am debt free (Dave Ramsey plan). If it is a debt collector they are violating the do not call and free credit reporting acts so you can sue them. Especially if they say they are looking for a friend or relative because they legally cannot disclose information on another person’s debt. If they ever get through on my line I will be suing them.

Umm, no, no, no. As you perfectly well know the DNC registry does not cover debt collection calls. That was clearly explained at that site. Because you failed to read it does not change the facts. Along with the fact that the registry is simply a list and not a law. "free credit reporting acts"? Seriously? Do you even have a clue?Quote:If it is a debt collector they are violating the do not call and free credit reporting acts so you can sue them.
There are limitation and you finally got one right. They cannot legally disclose that this person owes a debt.Quote:If this is a third party debt collector they are allowed to call family or friends to do a skip trace.
Now for the even worse news. This is an original creditor and they do not have to follow the FDCPA rules in 45 states.
You will most likely lose and then you will have to pay their attorney's fees.Quote:If they ever get through on my line I will be suing them.
My proof. If you want to dispute you will have to cite laws, Federal or State Agency rules and regulations (State only in those 5 states), or case law (Common Law) established in lawsuits (make sure you cite the complete case including the docket number and the court).

No, the Do Not Call Registry prohibits sales calls. You still may receive political calls, charitable calls, debt collection calls, informational calls, and telephone survey calls.
In addition, companies may still call if you’ve recently done business with the company, or if you’ve given the company written permission to call you. However, if you ask a company not to call you again, it must honor your request. Record the date of your request
