- MB| 1 replyWe finally got a hold of them. They were looking for someone else. They said they were a lawyer / collections company and that they would take us off the list and stop calling and apologized. Great. (So far no calls since 2 days ago.)
However, there should be a law against this type of faceless harrassment! From Friday night to Monday morning, we worried about things like identify theft, knowing facing a false credit allegation would be like climbing a mountain. It's not fair that innocent citizens can be terrorized and all we get days later is "sorry, wrong person". This is the USA. This shouldn't happen here. And when it does, heads should roll.- Call type: Debt collector
- JG53Ex-husband has had many many calls from Larry Wyatt, 866-267-9392. We have been divorced 8 years, but the guy is calling to collect on one of MY past debts that have all been discharged. I called my attorney. Nothing they will do until they find out WHAT debt it is and if it was one on my discharged list. :( These guys are Zombie Debt Collectors. (See article from MSN Money at http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Savingan ... ldMistakes.aspx
Don't know what to do. This guy was very abusive and threatening to my ex. - JoeDebtskiC'mon peeps. If I call you and don't leave a message,
are you really telling me you have nothing better to do
than wait around to see who this is. If they are a debt
collector, nothing verbal is BINDING in court.
You would want everything in WRITING. Would you not?
The first thing these companies want to do is just
what you are not picking up. They want to know if someone
exists at this number. The next thing they want to do
is ask for Joe Schmoe knowing full well that Joe
is not you prompting you to say WHO YOU REALLY ARE.
Hooray, you are now in the Junk debt buyers database to
be sold. If you are the person they are looking for,
you just connected the number to a name and next a
reverse phone number check [for $39.99 on many websites]
will turn up an address. Congrats, you have mail.
Be careful what you ask for. You just might get it.
Many of these companies are buying debt that has
reached the statute of limitations [SOL].
It is the new business to buy old debt for pennies
on the dollar and collect 40 - 50 cents per dollar.
Check your state if you owe money to a CC company, medical,
or any other debtor to see what the SOL is. Get everything
in writing. Don't take phone harrassment. It is against the
law to harrass, intimidate or threaten without proof anyone
via the phone to collect a debt. The proof should be in WRITING
clearly identifying who the debtor is, the creditor, the amount
owed ...... and so on not to mention specific contact information
so as to take care of business.

- DDSame story as the rest - an autodialer call for a name I've never heard of. Following Sergeant's lead I found the website for National Account Adjusters inc. and contacted them via their sales number http://www.naaco.com/ContactUs.asp
They confirmed they had my cell number listed for 2 of their targets (neither of which I had heard of)and thanked me for calling to clear it up. We'll see next week if they actually correct thier information. - SidI now get a calls from 866-267-9392 acking like he's a machine asking me to press one the person there looking for and to press 2 if I'm not. I was getting another calls from a 866-267-9309 That said that he had to talk to me directly.
- Call type: Telemarketer
- rachelI have caller ID. this number has been calling and hanging up on my phone line for a number of days. They leave no message. I called back and got an answering machine that did not state co name or business. Just to hold on the line or enter number ext of rep to talk too.
- lwThey call multiple times a day and a recording says "if you are <some name who is not me> then press 1, otherwise press 2". Then they hang up. This goes on over and over again. I tried to call this number and it another recording says "if you know the extension number...otherwise wait for the next representative". I waited for 15 minutes and hung up. No one ever gets on the line. Since I owe no bills and I am not <some name who is not me>, I sure would like to get them to stop calling my number. I am on the do-not-call list. I have had the same phone number for 18 years.
- SuzanneThis is a collection agency. They buy VERY old debts (before 1991) and try to scare you into paying them.
READ UP ON THE LAW! They cannot try to collect after 7 years and they say they represent an attorney's office. Well, I work for an attorney's office and in Texas you cannot try to sue someone for a debt after 4 years (stays on your credit for 7 years).
DO NOT WRITE THEM! Look up the Fair Credit Reporting Act Laws! If you write them the wrong type of letter you will go back to square one (7 years). If you pay them a penny, you go back to square one. Do not return their calls!- Call type: Debt collector
- mad mad madThey continue to try and call for an Amy and I have told them it is no longer her phone, and they continue to call.
- Call type: Debt collector
- ChiefMessage left on my phone from 'Jennifer Miles' saying to contact her immediately on an urgent matter concerning me. Said they were not a telemarketing firms or trying to sell me anything. Caller ID showed no name, just the phone number. Message did not say who the company was or exactly who they were trying to reach. So I decided not to call them back.
- Caller: not shown
- VladimirA strange unwanted call from the above number. The same as other people reported (it is urgent, no sale or solicitation, etc)
- Susie E. E.I also have been getting calls from these people. I've tried to reach them several times only to be constantly put on hold. When I finally got through they asked for some woman I had never even heard of.
- WinnieThis is exactly what was said:
Yes, my name is Larry Wyatt. My office was hired to contact you in regards to a matter that needs your immediate attention. This is not a sales or solicitation call. I need you to contact me directly toll free 8662679392. Again My name is Larry Wyatt My toll free number 8662679392. This is not sales or solicitation. This concerns you directly. Again 8662679392.
He never gives my name so I do not want to call him. I have received a call from this number 5 or 6 times and from 3 different people.- Caller: No Company Name
- BGSReceived a voice message on my business phone from Larry Wyatt who said bacically the same mantra "this is not a sale or soliciation but a matter that needs your personal attention" Since this isn't my personal phone I'm suspicious that this may be a way to intentionally try and harass someone. I'm not convinced this is a collection agency, since I have excellent credit and no bill issues.
- alexThey have called me and left messages. They were looking for someone with the same FIRST name as me. There must be thousands of people with the same FIRST name. I have called twice and they said they will remove my name from their list. Can they at least look for people with the same last name? Not very smart uh?

- LookinForIntelligenceI get calls daily from this number and 281-267-9392 - with the same message. They are looking for someone - last name is Patrick. Well- our number is a first time used one - no one before us had it. We had an ATT phone prior - got the same calls then also. Geez - they call as late as 10 p.m. - and on weekends.
- Bob Therrien replies to MBI have been getting calls from that number 866-267-9392 day and night and they just keep calling and hanging up on us, I think this should be outlawed????? That is called phone something we must have a law against that in this country...
- EdI've returned these calls and they keep asking for someone that doesn't live at my address/phone number. Each time (4) "They" tell me they'll removed my number from the list and they turn around and call me the following day. I don't know what to do/who to complain to so I've given up. The only thing I can think of is my current number belonged to someone behind on their bills. Its a real pain in the butt...
- Caller: None Displayed
- ShayI feel a lot better seeing all these posts and that there are investigations out on these people. They have been calling our house for months (I rarely answer) and leaving those same 'urgent matter' messages. Sometimes they call multiple times throughout the day. It doesn't say who the call is for or what company. I have been paying off some past debt; however, I'm only willing to deal with those companies that disclose themselves AND the original collector. It seems absurd to me that I should be expected to call an anonymous company for an unknown matter! I'm sick of their calls!

- LindaThis is a collection agency that goes by the name of National Account Adjusters. Their website is http://www.naaco.com/ and they do collections for education, medical, and the government. There are two numbers you will get a call from. It's either 1-866-265-9691 or 1-866-267-9392. They perform skip traces on people who owe them and at times will harrass the wrong family. If you tell them that the person they are looking for does not live there, they take it that you are covering for the individual and sometimes they will become demanding. Call 303.487.5400 which is their main office in Denver and have your number removed. I had mine taken off and someone actually apologized. That's a first.
