Caller ID listed as CITI and the voicemail message was from a man named Travis stating he was from Home Depot Credit Services calling in regard to a Home Depot credit card I tried to open today and proceeded to leave a reference and security number with the number 866-272-0334 to call back.  It's a SCAM. I didn't open a home Depot card and neither did anyone else try to in my name because I called the credit agencies and home Depot to verify. My first tip off was the difference in company names because legit businesses will not list two different names.

In 2017 there was a Home Depot Data breach which released credit card numbers, customer names and phone numbers.

Today I got a call with 10 seconds of empty space and eventually a "hello, this is amy from citibanks home depot credit services is *my name* available to finalize a card application opened in his name? I said no, and she asked if I could leave him a callback number (to their scam hotline, not home depots actual credit services number on the back of the card)

There was no card application opened in my name, they are phishing for my security code to rack up a bunch of charges. Dont fall for these types of scams; always call the number on the back of your card.

I also had a phone call this morning from a Debbie from Home Depot Credit Card asking me to contact them regarding a credit application that was opened with them. They left a reference and security number when I called. Call the credit agencies and Home Depot phone number on the back of the card. The number is not the same as the number on the card. DO NOT CALL..! IT IS A SCAM..!

Someone called me today & asked for me to call them back because a credit card was opened in my name.   She did not leave a name, only a pass code to use.  Needless to say I did not call back.   Do not fall for this scam.

I just recurved this call and let it go to voicemail. I also did not apply for this card. Not calling back.. glad to see others reported this online so I could cross reference the phone number. I actually did apply for a Home Depot card. HD website said to call a phone number. I talked to guy. He said he ‘was working’ on my application. Said I was denied. Same guy called back and left a message. Asked me to use some code. Sounded very fishy. I did not call back.

How do those scammers keep getting away with this? Who’s to stop them?!

I got a call from a guy said I have a Home Depot credit card apply under my name and he left me a reference number also a security code, and ask me to call back at this number 866-272-0334.
I did call back and a lady name Julie talk to me se try to get my 4 digit of ssn and address I did not give her neither info, and ask her for worker id number or last name then she could not provide me either of them. It’s a scam don’t call them back or talk to them

It wasn't a scam. Citi bank IS the bank that issues the home depot credit card. The number he provided IS INDEED Citi banks phone number for consumer credit cards.

The call IS NOT a scam. It is citi bank who is the issuer for the home depot consumer credit card.

Duh, she obviously got a call from a scammer who spoofed the number!
