This number called and said they were my bank and needed information

It's from US Bank outreach department. It is legit. I called US bank and confirmed that this is their number.

SCAM!! - Whoever posted below that said this is a legit number must be working with them! I called US Bank and they said this was phishing and transferred me to the fraud department. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFO!

Number came in a letter with USBank letterhead. Called USBank and this number does not display in their system and no notices or alerts on our accounts.  The letter was addressed properly with last 4 numbers of our accounts.

I spoke to my local branch and confirmed that the letter was legitimate. It is unfortunate that USBank does not communicate that new departments have new toll free numbers.

Any communication by way of US mail which appears fraudulent should be taken down to the local post office so that the postal authorities can take a look at it.  This could be a form of mail fraud.

I got a few letters like this. The first one I called and gave all my info and took to the bank and the bank said it is a scam and not theirs. They closed my account out of protection and got a new account. Less then a month later I got 2 new letters with my new account on there. Bank says again that is is not them. Filing a police report.

And no that number is not affiliated with us bank. Best thing to do always is tell them you will call the branch back on the actual phone number you always call and they will usually say ok if you feel more comfortable thats fine. Thatsa trick in itself to get you to trust them. But..if you want to screw with them.
The best thing to do to mess with them is say. Thats my old account that was closed out long ago and then send them a [***] you message by way of spelling out a [***] you scam [***] or whatever will spell that as the 16 didget #s. Then make your bday june 6 1966 the back 3 code 666. Expiration date 6/66 s.s. 666 66 6666...theyll get the hint.

SCAM!! WARNING!! I called this number from the letter. When the person started asking for information, I told him this seems weird and I was going to hang up and call the US Bank customer service number. He acted like that was fine and I hung up. I called US Bank and they verified that this is NOT THEIR NUMBER and there is nothing wrong with my account. THIS IS A SCAM!! DO NOT GIVE PERSONAL INFORMATION TO ANYONE BEFORE CALLING THE POSTED US BANK CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER 1 (800) 872-2657!!

I received a call from a restricted number. I did not answer. Voice mail said US Bank outreach dept needed a missing document from our Business checking.  I googled the number and found this site.  I called my local branch and she said it was not a scam and that she received an email needing a document signed.  She was able to take care of what was needed and I didn't call the 866 number back.

It's a scam. Their calling ID is restricted. US Bank will not call vlients with restricted telephone number.

This is a PHISHING SCAM....DO NOT CALL AND GIVE INFO....I keep recieving phone calls from a 913 area code number list as US bank and the bank manager said its not legit...recieved a letter today stating info was missing on the account and I need to call this 866 number to correct. Went to bank to speak to manager & was told its a scam and our account for fine.

I called this number given on the letter from "US BANK" (???). The person answering the call asked for the ID on the letter. After giving him the ID number he asked my name. I then asked him to give me my name if he really represented USBank - the ID number should have provided the answer. He didn't know my name so I commented that this seemed like a phishing scheme. At that point he quickly hung up indicating that the call IS a phishing attempt.  Secondly..Why would a bank headquarterd in Mineapolis use a branch bank in Kansas City or St. Lewis to do "important" surveys.    STAY AWAY FROM THESE CREEPS!!!!

Received a message from "Brandon" that said he was from the US Bank Customer Outreach department.  Said it wasn't a sales related call and would only take a few minutes of my time.  Also left a six-digit reference number.  The scary part is that he addressed me by my full name, which makes it sound legit.  Still not going to call back.
